SR&R Reminder – DUE Friday, October 29, 2021

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. There are two ways for parents to acknowledge that you have received the document:

  1. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.  E-signing for one child will suffice for all siblings within the household. Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
  2. Download and sign the Parent Signature Sheet and please return the signed signature sheet to your child's teacher.

Signatures are due by October 29, 2021

Please complete ASAP!

Advanced Academics Information

Advanced academics

Please take a moment to read the September Newsletter from our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Andrea Trumbull. You can find it on Schoology here.

If you would like to learn more about the Advanced Academics Program or are interested in how to submit a referral for any level of AAP services, please join us on Thursday, September 21st at 6:00 pm in the Library for an overview. The slides from the presentation will also be posted in Schoology after the event for those who cannot attend. If you have any questions, please reach out to Andrea Trumbull, AART at astrumbull@fcps.edu.

Transportation – Kiss and Ride

arrival dismissal 2

We need your help!  There are crosswalks at Nutting Dr. and Gosport Ln. and also at Nutting Dr. and Ellet Rd.  It is much safer to cross Nutting Dr. at these corners than to park opposite the bus loop and cross Nutting Dr. without a crosswalk. Kiss and Ride is a much safer route to use to drop-off and pick-up students.  Please keep this in mind.

Also, while using Kiss and Ride, as you approach patrols for drop-off or pick-up, do not use your phone.  The Kiss and Ride area is a cell free zone.

Please do not make a U-turn at Nutting Dr. in front of the Bus loop.

We appreciate you helping us keep our students safe.

Absences Add Up – Plan Ahead

As we get closer to the start of school, please plan travel around the school calendar. Every day of school is important to overall academic, social and emotional progress.

Positivity Project

Next week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Curiosity. Curiosity means you like exploration and discovery. You ask lots of questions because you want to learn more about anything and everything.

Curiosity is a crucial component of one’s character. Our innate urge for discovery and exploration is a key element of our human desire for wisdom and knowledge. It’s what keeps us intrigued in the plotlines of movies and books. It’s what pushes us to try new activities or travel to different places. All individuals experience curiosity but differ in their willingness to experience it -- behaviorally, intellectually, and emotionally.

PTA is Seeking a New Treasurer

join pta2

The PTA is looking for someone willing to assume the role of Treasurer for the 2023-2024 school year. Unfortunately, our current Treasurer, Lane, is unable to continue in the position. • Tracking and imputing incomes and expenses to QuickBooks
  • Creating Monthly Budget Reports and presenting them at Meetings
  • Writing checks and depositing payments received
  • Attending monthly meetings

The position demands anywhere between 2-5 hours of work per month. While an accounting background and QuickBooks experience is helpful, it is not necessary.

Anyone interested in the role can send an email to president@ravensworthpta.org. Further questions about the role may be sent to selemefamilia@gmail.org
