Glen Forest Families,
We are in need of a representative for the Title 1 Parent Advisory Committee. Please read the information and email Ms. Herndon-Wilson at dlherndonwi1@fcps.edu if you are interested. Thank you!
What is the Title I Parent Advisory Committee?
The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Title I team is committed to partnering with parents in the planning and implementation of the Title I program for family engagement. The Title I Parent Advisory Committee consists of a parent representative from each FCPS school receiving Title I funds.
When does the Title I Parent Advisory Committee (TPAC) meet?
• The TPAC meets at least five times per year at the Gatehouse Administrative Center • Child care is provided for children ages 4 and up • Meetings are open to the public • Dates and locations of general meetings are posted on the
TPAC website https://www.fcps.edu/committee/title-i- parent-advisory-committee
• Parents may access meeting content remotely, but attendance in person is necessary for active participation and voting by parent representatives
What does a Title I Parent Advisory Committee Representative do?
• Learn more about the Title I grant program in Fairfax County and about family engagement initiatives taking place in other schools. • Develop leadership and advocacy skills through partnerships with fellow parents, and school staff by sharing strategies used to foster family engagement in schools. • Provide input into the planning and implementation of Title I family engagement programming in Fairfax County. • Support the development of an annual school board report describing the focus of the committee during the school year, information and resources gained throughout the year, and recommendations for the next school year. All parents in schools receiving Title I funding are invited to attend TPAC meetings.
