PTA News and Notes
1st PTA Meeting
Thank you to all who joined us Tuesday for the first in person/hybrid PTA meeting. It was great to see so many familiar faces as well as new members! There is still time to join if you haven’t already! Annual PTA membership dues are $10, and you can sign up HERE. We hope you will consider joining us and help plan fun events for Columbia this school year.
Additionally, we are still looking for one more PTA member to be on the “financial review committee”. This commitment asks for approximately 15-30 minutes of your time each month to review the Treasurer’s bank reconciliation and statements. Please email columbiapta@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer.
Fall Picnic
Speaking of fun events…Please join us Friday, September 29th from 6-8 PM for a school wide picnic. Pack a picnic and join us behind the school for some fun and fellowship. We still need volunteers to help with snack sales at this event. Lots of hands make light work. Please sign-up HERE if you are able to help with this kick-off event. If you are unable to help with the event but would like to donate items, HERE is a link to the Amazon Wish List. Thank you for your support!
Car Magnets
We are excited to share that we are now offering car magnets through the PTA store. A single magnet is $7 or two magnets for $10. Get them while they last!
New Sponsor
We're excited to announce our first business sponsorship of the school year! Patient First provides non-appointment urgent care for routine injuries and illnesses and will be opening down the street from Columbia Elementary. They will be on-site at the Fall Picnic to share more information if you are interested.

Site-Based Substitute Teacher Vacancy!
Have you ever thought about being a substitute teacher? FCPS has created a new position called: "site-based" substitute teacher. This person would be a substitute teacher, but only for Columbia ES openings, and they would report every day students are in school. Additionally, this position comes with health benefits, which is new! If you, or someone you know, may be interested in hearing more about this position, please call the main office at 703-916-2500.
