Ravensworth 60th Anniversary Celebration

sixty

Come join us on Saturday, September 9th at 10:00 am as we mark this amazing milestone.  We’ll have cake and activities!  As part of 60th Anniversary, we’ll be announcing the name of our school mascot.  We hope to see you there!

Transportation – Kiss and Ride

arrival dismissal 2

We need your help!  There are crosswalks at Nutting Dr. and Gosport Ln. and also at Nutting Dr. and Ellet Rd.  It is much safer to cross Nutting Dr. at these corners than to park opposite the bus loop and cross Nutting Dr. without a crosswalk. Kiss and Ride is a much safer route to use to drop-off and pick-up students.  Please keep this in mind.

Also, while using Kiss and Ride, as you approach patrols for drop-off or pick-up, do not use your phone.  The Kiss and Ride area is a cell free zone.

Please do not make a U-turn at Nutting Dr. in front of the Bus loop.

We appreciate you helping us keep our students safe.

School Meals

freee/reducedmeals

Preparing for and Paying for Meals at School

Parents/caregivers need to provide their students with money to purchase meals at school, send them with a packed lunch, or apply (and be approved) for free and reduced-price meals benefits. School breakfast for students costs $1.75. Lunch is $3.25 for elementary students and $3.50 for middle, secondary, and high school students.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

The application for free and reduced-priced meals is now available for the 2023-24 school year. Students who were approved for free and reduced-price lunch last year are eligible for the first 30 days of school this year (or until a new application is processed). Families should re-apply as soon as possible for the 2023-24 school year, so eligible students continue to receive meals at no cost.

Paying With MySchoolBucks

The best way to purchase meals (and keep food lines moving!) is to use MySchoolBucks. Set up your student’s MySchoolBucks account today. Our front office staff can help with any questions.

MySchoolBucks accounts can be set up to add money to the account automatically, as needed. Families with multiple children can use the same MySchoolBucks account. Visit FCPS’ Food and Nutrition webpage for more information.

Change of Clothing “especially grades K and 1”

change of clothing

Dear Parents:

Spills and accidents can occur in school. Please send in a complete change of clothing inside a labeled Zip lock bag for your child. Please place it inside their backpacks, so the teachers can use it in the event they are needed.

Positivity Project

other people mindset 1

Next week Ravensworth will be kicking off the new year with the Positivity Project.  During the week our school community will be focusing on the Other People Mindset. This means anything that builds relationships is going to make you happy.

The mission of the Positivity Project is to empower America’s youth to build positive relationships by understanding, appreciating, and exemplifying the character strengths in us all. People who have strong positive relationships do five things consistently - these are the five practices of the Other People Mindset. 1. Recognize the good in other people, 2. Recognize that everything you say or do affects other people, 3. Support others when they struggle, 4. Cheer people on when they succeed, 5. Remain present when giving people your attention. People who have a strong Other People Mindset are able to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with others.

PTA is Seeking a New Treasurer

join pta2

The PTA is looking for someone willing to assume the role of Treasurer for the 2023-2024 school year. Unfortunately, our current Treasurer, Lane, is unable to continue in the position. While we will miss her in that role, it opens up a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to get involved. The position includes:

  • Tracking and imputing incomes and expenses to QuickBooks
  • Creating Monthly Budget Reports and presenting them at Meetings
  • Writing checks and depositing payments received
  • Attending monthly meetings

The position demands anywhere between 2-5 hours of work per month. While an accounting background and QuickBooks experience is helpful, it is not necessary.

Anyone interested in the role can send an email to president@ravensworthpta.org. Further questions about the role may be sent to selemefamilia@gmail.org
