Carolyn Ellison: I am the Principal’s administrative assistant and office manager. I answer calls and handle any requested administrative tasks assigned. I also perform finance and accounting tasks for the school. I am married and grew up in the Washington Metropolitan area. I have five sisters and one brother. I'm the youngest girl. My sister, who’s a seamstress, makes all of my clothes. My husband and I love watching Chopped on the Food Network.
Jailene Acevedo: I am the Student Information Assistant (Registrar) and I am responsible for updating and maintaining SIS, our student information database, as well as student cumulative files. I handle daily attendance, Impact Aid forms, registrations, and withdrawals/transfers. Growing up I was always around music and at the age of 12, I began to sing and play the piano. I was born and raised in Fairfax county, graduated from West Potomac in 2018. I love to travel and explore new sites. In my free time, I watch tv, do word search, or continue my diamond painting picture. I'm obsessed with the color blue and sweet treats.
Tammy Martin: I am the Office Assistant, the picture coordinator for fall and spring pictures, and the yearbook coordinator. To reserve a room in the building for a special event or program, send an email to me as I am also the Community Use Contact. I also take care of transportation changes. Keeping students and staff safe is a priority for FCPS. Each school has an emergency preparedness plan to respond to incidents such as fires and tornadoes. Schools are required by state law to practice emergency drills, including lockdown drills, each year. Schools are also required to notify parents and guardians at least 24 hours before a school conducts a lockdown drill. However, schools are not required to give the specific date and time of the drill in advance.
The first lockdown drill of the school year must take place within the first 20 days of school. Preschool and kindergarten students are exempt from practicing the first lockdown drill.
Your child may come home and talk about their experience during the drill. We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of being prepared for emergencies. Please review these frequently asked questions to support your students before and after school lockdown drills.
You can learn more about safety and security protocols and language by watching these two videos:
FCPS also provides information on its Frequently Asked Questions about Lockdown Drills page and in the document Parent/Guardian Tips to Support Students Before, During, and After Required Lockdown Drills.
🍎 Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Available
According to the Centers for Disease Control, eating breakfast at school is associated with better attendance rates, fewer missed school days, and better test scores. Students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals receive breakfast and lunch at school at no cost.
Families in FCPS that are earning less than 185% of the poverty level can receive meals for their students at no cost. Families should complete the application before the start of each school year. Approved applications may also qualify students for additional benefits.
Apply on the Free and Reduced-Price Meals webpage.
