September 11th - National Day of Service
 |
|
With the upcoming 22nd anniversary of September 11, FCPS acknowledges the loss of life, the heroism of our first responders, and the resilience of our country. The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, also called Patriot Day, is a chance to reflect and act in service to others to honor those who were injured or killed in the terrorist attacks. |
All FCPS students are encouraged to participate in service learning as it supports Portrait of a Graduate (POG) attributes and social and emotional learning (SEL) skills. Middle and high school students can learn more about service learning by logging into their Naviance account to access x2VOL.
Get started this fall with two great opportunities: Public Lands Day (September 23) and Volunteer Fairfax’s VolunteerFest (October 21). Information on service projects can be found on the Volunteer Fairfax website.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
 |
|
While childhood cancer is rare, it is the leading cause of disease-related death past infancy in children and adolescents. Every September, advocacy organizations, healthcare institutions, patients, and families raise awareness for childhood cancer. Learn more here.

Backpack Safety Awareness Month - It's Time to Lighten the Load
|
If you've been concerned about the effects that extra weight might have on your child's still-growing body, your instincts are correct. Backpacks that are too heavy can cause a lot of problems for kids, like back, neck and shoulder pain, as well as poor posture.
Read about things you can do to help prevent injury HERE.

DMV – Learner’s Permit Testing at Robinson

See the FLYER for information about the Learner's Permit Testing we have here at Robinson. There are three steps to follow and dates available twice a month. The first date is September 13th. |
Parental Consent Required for Selected Digital Resources
At Robinson Secondary School, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some digital resources — those that collect any student data or from vendors who have not established a formal contract with FCPS — cannot be used by students until we obtain consent from their guardian.
You can find the list of the resources that require parent/caregiver consent here on the Digital Resources-Parent Consent webpage. FCPS’ Digital Resources page provides additional information.
The Digital Resources-Parent Consent page has a link to the Digital Consent System, where the parent/caregiver will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. You will need to access the form using your SIS ParentVUE username and password.
The Digital Resources page also highlights how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources and why we must obtain your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the Parental Consent for Digital Resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission.
Please reach out to Nathan Poumade (njpoumade@fcps.edu) or Elizabeth Joyce (eajoyce@fcps.edu), if you have questions or concerns.
