THIS WEEK AT MADISON
WEEK OF 9/5/23
IMPORTANT INFO & EVENTS
Underclass Picture Day
- School Picture Day is coming Thursday, September 7 & Friday, September 8. Images will be available to view and purchase approximately two weeks following our school's picture day. Save time and pre-order online here.
- We are looking for 2-3 parent volunteers to help with pictures. Email Ms. Taylor at mtaylor2@fcps.edu if you are interested.
- For questions about ordering school pictures please email underclass@vosphoto.com
Attendance Reminder
- The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits. Students who attend school regularly and punctually are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate on time. Now that most student schedule conflicts have been worked out, students are expected to be present and on time for every class. Administrators will follow up with students demonstrating patterns of being absent or tardy to class. Parents can access their student’s attendance records through ParentVue. Our attendance office procedures, policies, and contact information can be found on our website here.
Health Information and Emergency Care Forms
- The Health Information Form (HIF) (SS/SE-71) and the Emergency Care Information form (SS/SE-3) provide valuable information regarding student health conditions. These forms are critical in the early identification of students who may need healthcare support in the educational environment. Along with the development of Healthcare Plans (HCP) and Action Plans, the Public Health Nurses (PHNs) utilize the information contained in the HIF to develop teaching strategies for FCPS staff in order to meet the requirements of Regulation 2104 Health Services-School Health-Related Needs.
- For SY23-24, these forms will be required for all students. Enrolling parents/guardians who have a SIS ParentVUE account may submit them electronically by using the Online Verification/Update packet.
- For families without SIS ParentVue accounts, forms can be located in the Back to School packets and on the General Registration Forms page.
Student Rights and Responsibilities 2023-2024
- The Student Rights and Responsibilities document is now available and explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety to create a fair, equitable and supportive school environment. All students will engage in a lesson about the SR&R next week.
- Every parent/guardian is asked to sign to acknowledge review of this document either by logging on to your SIS ParentVue account or by signing this signature sheet and returning it to Madison by September 29, 2023.
Belonging and Engagement Committee
- If you are interested in being part of this committee, please fill out this form. The team will be forming in early October to discuss and define the scope of our work.

Madison High School strives to create and maintain an identity affirming learning environment where our students embrace, support, and encourage each other where multiple forms of identity (i.e. race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or disability) are recognized and regarded as assets for teaching and learning. We work to ensure school is a place where students feel safe and can be themselves. We do not tolerate hate speech, racist speech, bias, or acts of discrimination in our school. We want all students to feel a sense of belonging. We want to see all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to learning, growing, and building the best Madison High School for all our students. We are One School - One Community - One World.
