Atoms Athletics Recap

The second week of the regular season is complete for the Atoms. A quick recap from the week is below.

Atoms Golf got their first win of the year with a 2 stroke victory over Lewis Tuesday evening. It was a team effort in the win as they look to continue their great play as they take on TJ Tuesday at Pinecrest for senior night.

Atoms Field Hockey split their two games this week. First was an exciting 2-1 OT victory over Edison to start district play. Ainsley Bolin scored the OT goal on a break away to secure the win vs Edison. The Atoms played a hard fought game vs a good Marshall team eventually falling 1-0 in OT Wednesday evening. They hit the field again Wednesday as they travel to Langley.

Atoms Volleyball earned their first win of the season in a dominant showing vs Park View Monday. The Atoms won all three sets by double digits! The Atoms continued to play hard at Hayfield, winning the first set before falling to Hawks in four sets. The Atoms return to the court as they host Justice Wednesday evening.

Atoms Cross Country had strong showings by both boys and girls in their first meet of the year. The boys finished 3rd overall with three different Atoms finishing in the top 15 of the race. The girls ran hard and were led by a 3rd place finish by Keira Dalrymple.

Atoms Football traveled to Washington-Liberty Thursday evening and battled all night to a team that might win the Liberty District  and go deep into regional play. The Atoms found themselves in a deficit early and at halftime but their heart and grit showed as they fought back and made the game a lot closer than the score showed. The Atoms hit the road again next week as they travel to open district play at Hayfield Friday evening.

Atoms Yard Signs

As we start the 2023-2024 school year, we aim to bring the community of Annandale closer together. One way we are doing that is showing how proud we are of our Atoms athletes and band members. Be on the lookout for a yard sign that represent where out Atoms live! When you see one make sure to show your support of the time and effort they are putting in to making the Annandale community proud!

Performing Arts Tag Day

The Performing Arts Department from Annandale High School is joining forces to raise support for our various programs for the 2023-24 academic year. On Saturday, September 19 from 9:30-4:30, students from the AHS band, choir, orchestra and theatre will canvas folks in the Annandale community and ask for their financial support for this year. Going door to door to share about our programs, all students will have door tags to leave with a QR code for folks to contribute.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help

Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year, starting with fall sports Football and Volleyball. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of the particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. Concessions not your thing? We need drivers to pick up Chick-Fil-A or to drop the bags back off (slots are on the sign up). Or help out with parking control or spirit wear sales. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters and we would love parents to come to meetings and learn how. Watch out for the Booster Blast and come to the next scheduled meeting, all are welcome! Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!

Special Ask... Atoms After School Snack Bar

As many of you know, the Atoms Athletic Boosters has been able to open our concessions stand after school for your children to grab a bite to eat prior to heading to their activities. If your schedule allows, please consider volunteering 1 day a week or even just 1-2 days a month. The hours are 3:15-4:15. This is a rare benefit in Fairfax County that we are able to provide for our kids, but we can’t do it without parent help. Please contact at odessapmurray@gmail.com or (703) 626-9647 if interested in helping.
