Churchill Chatter - Issue 2, September 8, 2023

pg

Good Afternoon Churchill Road Families,

What a great start to the school year! Students are engaged and excited to be in school and ready to learn. Earlier this week, we celebrated our bus drivers with coffee and treats. We are so grateful for all that they do for us each morning and afternoon.

Our first round of grade level community conversations begins next week.  Look for grade-level specific emails coming via our eNotify system with all the details.  We hope that you will join us for these informative conversations.

The PTA has postponed Back to School Movie Night from tonight to Friday, September 29th due to concerns about the weather.  We hope you are able to join in the fun on the 29th.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cherith Pierson-Barr and Ms. Jen Niccolls

PTA Back to School Movie Night Postponed to Friday, September 29

No Movie Night tonight! Unfortunately, the CRS Back to School Movie Night originally scheduled for tonight, September 8, has been POSTPONED due to the adverse weather forecast for tomorrow evening.

Movie Night has been rescheduled for Friday, September 29: doors will open at 6:30pm; and movie will start at 7:15pm.

For all who pre-purchased tickets and family dinner packs, there is nothing more to do on your end, as the PTA will seamlessly transfer all purchased tickets and dinner packs to the new date on Sept. 29.

We hope that the new date brings us a worry-free and storm-less evening to enjoy The Super Mario Bros. Movie under the stars with friends in the CRS 'Backyard'.

Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email   vpmembership@churchillroadpta.org

2023-24 Health and Safety Guidance for Schools

Although the COVID-19 hospital transmission level (previously the COVID-19 Community Transmission level) for Fairfax County is currently low, COVID-19 cases have risen in Virginia during the last few weeks, and flu season will soon be upon us. Be sure to review FCPS Health and Safety Guidance for the best ways to prevent the spread of disease and to find out when students should stay home from school.

September 11 National Day of Service

The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, also called Patriot Day, is a chance to reflect and to act in service to others as a way of honoring those who were injured or killed in the terrorist attacks. FCPS acknowledges the loss of life that day, the heroism of our first responders, and the resilience of our country.

All students are encouraged to participate in service learning as it also supports Portrait of a Graduate attributes, and social and emotional learning skills. Middle and high school students can find out more about service learning by logging into their Naviance account to access x2VOL.
