Atom Nation
An incredible first week of athletics and activities has wrapped up at Annandale. It was an exciting week all around and we can't wait to see what the rest of the fall has in store of the Atoms. We encourage all of you to get out and support out Atoms as they are working hard to make the Annandale community proud. The week was a success all around and it was capped off last night with our Atoms football team showing support for our Marching Atoms who had to play post game due to a shortened halftime. It was a special moment to see the support shown by both programs during a torrential downpour! Make sure to check out some of the pictures from this week!
GO ATOMS!!!

Atoms Athletics Recap
The first week of the regular season is in the books for the Atoms. A quick recap from the week is below.
Atoms Golf fell just six strokes short of defeating Justice, Thursday afternoon at Pinecrest Golf Club. Sophia Sewall qualified for the girls zone qualifier with her impressive score of 45 during the match. The Atoms tee it up again Tuesday vs Lewis.
Atoms Field Hockey won an exciting game over McLean 1-0 in their home opener Wednesday evening. Callia Uviedo had the lone gone on a stroke penalty shot and help the Atoms start the season off 1-0! They return to the field Monday in their district opening game vs Edison.
Atoms Volleyball showed a lot of grit and determination during their match vs Falls Church. The team played with a lot of energy and passion that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats throughout the match. It's going to be exciting watching this team grow this season. They hit the court again Monday evening vs Park View.
Atoms Football had an eventful home opener last night vs Marshall. The Atoms were down 12-0 before a lightning delay sent both teams inside for a period of time. The Atoms returned to the field and took a 14-13 lead in the 4th quarter but a couple Marshall big plays down the stretch resulted in a 27-20 defeat. The Atoms played hard throughout and the resiliency showed last night has Friday nights looking promising!

Atoms Yard Signs
As we start the 2023-2024 school year, we aim to bring the community of Annandale closer together. One way we are doing that is showing how proud we are of our Atoms athletes and band members. Be on the lookout for a yard sign that represent where out Atoms live! When you see one make sure to show your support of the time and effort they are putting in to making the Annandale community proud!

Performing Arts Tag Day
The Performing Arts Department from Annandale High School is joining forces to raise support for our various programs for the 2023-24 academic year. On Saturday, September 19 from 9:30-4:30, students from the AHS band, choir, orchestra and theatre will canvas folks in the Annandale community and ask for their financial support for this year. Going door to door to share about our programs, all students will have door tags to leave with a QR code for folks to contribute.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help
Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year, starting with fall sports Football and Volleyball. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of the particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. Concessions not your thing? We need drivers to pick up Chick-Fil-A or to drop the bags back off (slots are on the sign up). Or help out with parking control or spirit wear sales. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters and we would love parents to come to meetings and learn how. Watch out for the Booster Blast and come to the next scheduled meeting, all are welcome! Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!

Special Ask... Atoms After School Snack Bar
As many of you know, the Atoms Athletic Boosters has been able to open our concessions stand after school for your children to grab a bite to eat prior to heading to their activities. If your schedule allows, please consider volunteering 1 day a week or even just 1-2 days a month. The hours are 3:15-4:15. This is a rare benefit in Fairfax County that we are able to provide for our kids, but we can’t do it without parent help. Please contact at odessapmurray@gmail.com or (703) 626-9647 if interested in helping.
