It was wonderful to see so many of you at Back to School Night! The amazing staff at CES worked hard to create a welcoming and informative experience for all. If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's teacher.
I'd like to send a special shout-out to all the families that helped support the PTA fundraiser night at Chipotle last evening as well!
Have a wonderful four-day holiday weekend and we will see all of our Cougars back at school on Tuesday, September 5th.

SR&R - Students Rights and Responsibilities
FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. In late June, the School Board approved changes to the SR&R for the 2023-24 school year. Updates include a revision of dress code expectations, bystander expectations for students witnessing harmful or unsafe behaviors, bullying, and substance abuse responses. Read Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid’s letter to families regarding the SR&R.
Parents/caregivers should talk to their child(ren) about expectations for this school year. Also, please log in to SIS ParentVUE and sign to acknowledge your review of the SR&R, or sign and return the signature sheet to your child’s school by Friday, September 29.

PTA News and Notes
Spirit wear sales close Friday, September 1
Don’t forget to order your Columbia spirit wear before tomorrow’s deadline! Adult and youth sizes are available. Once they arrive, we will distribute orders to your student to bring home.
In-person PTA meetings are back! We are excited to be able to once again host in-person PTA meetings in the school library. Our first meeting of the year will be Tuesday, September 12, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. (Note: At this time, we are not able to provide childcare during PTA meetings.) If you are not able to attend in person, please become a member so that we have your contact info and can share a Zoom link and meeting materials. Annual PTA membership dues are $10, and you can sign up online.
Volunteers needed for Fall picnic and Bingoween - We need lots of volunteers for 2 upcoming school-wide events: The Fall picnic (Friday, September 29) and Bingoween (Friday, October 27).
