General Information

Back to School Night Information

We are excited to invite you to our Back to School Night and Open House Wednesday evening, August 30th! Back-To-School Night is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers, gain an overview of each course, and connect with our overarching school goals.  While these nights are not intended for individual parent-teacher conferences, parents will have the chance to envision their child’s daily school life and to become better acquainted with our school community.

We have both an asynchronous website option and an in-person option so families can chose the option that best meets their needs.  For those attending in-person, please note that parking is limited.  We strongly encourage walking for those that live by the school and carpooling to the greatest extent possible.  Overflow parking can be found by using street parking, Nottoway Park, and Marshall Road Elementary School.  Please note a shuttle will not be provided.

More information on Back to School Night can be found on the Oakton HS website, under announcements (Back-to-School Night).

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

This is a friendly reminder for all families to use Oakton's established kiss-and-ride as the drop-off and pick-up for students.  This ensures the safety and wellbeing of our students and families, while also maintaining a positive relationship with our surrounding neighborhoods.  If everyone pulls to the end of the kiss-and-ride lane to drop off /pick-up and follows the communication of our staff, we can move people through quickly.

Any make-shift kiss-and-ride lanes in surrounding neighborhoods negatively impact their streets and minimizes their access to their neighborhood and driveways.

National Honor Society 2023-2024 Application Process

As the school year begins it is important that qualified students who wish to apply for acceptance into the Oakton National Honor Society pay close attention to their school email regarding the application process. The process will begin in September and run through October. Eligible students who wish to apply for acceptance will receive an invitation in September via their school emails with further information.

Students who are identified as having a 3.5 GPA or higher currently in 11th and 12th grade, who are not current members of NHS, will be invited to apply. Students can find more information via the Oakton website using this link.

Please hold all questions regarding the process until after invitation letters have been sent to student emails. Current members of NHS do not need to reapply for the coming school year. Current members will receive updated information via student school emails in September regarding future meetings, opportunities, and our 2023-2024 NHS Officer application process.
