Digital Resources – Parent Consent
Thank you to all our parents and guardians that have completed the Digital Resources consent form. We are over 60% completion rate. If you have not completed the Digital Resources consent for your student(s) please review the information below.
Cooper teachers will use a variety of digital resources to help students learn during the 2023-2024 school year. These digital resources have been checked and approved by Fairfax County Public Schools. Please provide your consent for your student to use these resources through the Digital Consent System.
How To Provide Consent
- Go to the Parent Digital Consent Application - https://digitalconsent.fcps.edu/ispb/is01/r/pdcp/
- Log in with the same username and password you use for SIS ParentVUE.

Resources:
Instructional Digital Resources reviewed and approved for use in FCPS are listed in the FCPS Digital Ecosystem Library. Below are the digital tools available for use in FCPS that require parental approval. The tools have been carefully reviewed to ensure that they align with the FCPS Learning Model.
Not every student will use all the tools listed. For information about the specific tools that will be used by your child, please contact your child’s teachers.

Deadline to Request Schedule Changes
The last day for schedule request changes is tomorrow, Thursday - August 24th. If this applies to your child, please have them use either the QR code OR the BITLY on their paper schedules to share their concern/scheduling issues with us.
- Parents must provide consent to their student(s) to participate in the After School Program.
- Start date for After-School Clubs is Monday, September 11th.
- After-School Clubs Fair will be Monday, September 11th 2:30-4:30 for students only. Transportation home will be provided by late buses.
- Clubs will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Snack provided. A Session 2:30-3:30. B Session 3:30-4:30. Transportation provided by late buses after B session. Parents may pick up their student(s) after A session if they are not staying for a B session club.
- Sign-up will be done day of clubs in the cafeteria.

Do you have a SIS ParentVue account?
If you do not already have a SIS ParentVUE account, sign up now to monitor and support your child’s academic success! Through ParentVUE, you are able to view your student’s attendance, grades, and assignments at any time. You can also access special reports for your student like progress reports and assessment score reports.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. Access SIS ParentVUE by using an app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.

If you have previously setup your SIS ParentVUe account and have forgotten your password you will need to go to the SIS ParentVue logon page (https://sisparent.fcps.edu) and click on More Options. Under the More Options menu you will find the Fogot Password service.
Middle School Sports
Calling all Cooper Cougars! Interested in running Cross Country this fall? Cooper Middle School will be starting our first middle school cross country team. This will be a great opportunity to run with your friends and compete with schools around the County. If you are interested, please complete this form by September 1. Forms and questions can be directed to Coach Blevins.
Eligibility
- Enrolled at Cooper Middle School
- Student in good standing
- Eligible to participate in the After-School Program
Physicals
- Athletic physicals will be required
- FCPS Middle School Sports Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Physical Examination Form (form linked above)
- VHSL form will also be accepted
Practice
- Expect two practices per week
- Occur during the After-School Program window (2:30-4:30)
- Beginning no earlier than Monday, September 11
Competition
- 7 week season
- 4 meets (on Saturdays)
- 4 - 6 Schools per event
- 1 - 2 mile race, held on a MS campus
Transportation
- Will be provided from Cooper to competition and back
Uniform
- Cooper will provide uniform top
- Students provide shorts and footwear

Raising A Kid Who Can: The Ten Parenting Essentials to Start the School Year Strong
A new school year brings an opportunity for a fresh start for all of us! The Safe Community Coalition in partnership with the Temple Rodef Shalom is proud to host the authors of Raising A Kid Who Can, an event that is sure to help parents - and kids - start the new school year off strong! This meet the authors event takes place Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, at Temple Rodef Shalom (2100 Westmoreland St.). Presentation and Q&A: 7:00 - 8:30pm with book signing immediately afterward. Books will be available for sale at the event from bookseller Politics and Prose.
If we have learned anything from living through a global pandemic, it’s that today’s kids need to be able to adjust and recalibrate and to manage everyday challenges with confidence and composure. But how do we ensure that the next generation can roll with the inevitable punches of daily life?
Join us for an evening where you can learn from a child psychiatrist, a parent psychologist, and a child therapist who have spent years distilling the latest parenting science and best practices to answer the complex question: Based on all that modern science has to offer, what are the most important things I should try to do in raising my kid? The authors/speakers are mental health experts and longtime Safe Community Coalition volunteers and supporters: Heather Tedesco, PhD, Jennifer Weaver, LCSW and Catherine McCarthy, MD. They know what matters, they know what works, and they know how to explain it to parents so they can do it.
The authors created a playbook that arms parents with all the tools they need to navigate a complex world and help our kids move from an age of anxiety into an age of adaptability in a way that no other generation before has been able to do. They will give you the confidence and clarity to tackle the thorniest questions facing today's parents, such as how to handle a meltdown, what to do if your child is feeling anxious, how to approach technology, and how to prepare your kids for an uncertain future.
