Gentle Reminders

Dear Island Creek Families

Thank you for sending your students to us ready to learn as the first day of the  2023-2024 School Year is going extremely well!

With the start of the school year, families are inundated with information so we wanted to share a few gentle reminders.

  • School doors open at 8:20 AM and class begins at 8:35 AM.  
  • School ends at 3:20 PM. 
  • To ensure student safety, the Bus Loop is closed to families at arrival and dismissal.
  • Door 1:  Walkers (including those who park and walk to meet their child/ren)
  • Door 2:  Kiss and Ride 
  • Door 7:  Bus and Van Riders
  • Walking students to class: Starting tomorrow, only Kindergarten Students may be walked to their classroom. We highly recommend Kindergarten students walk to class by themselves as we have staff throughout the buidding to support.
  • Kindergarten and Preschool Students: must be met (at school or at the bus stop) and walked home with a family member/guardian/daycare provider who is at least 13 years old
  • Bus Riders: There may be delays the first weeks of school while routes are being establishedDuring the beginning of tIf a student’s bus is delayed, families may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. Email messages will be sent to announce significant bus delays. Contact the Transportation Office at 703-446-2150 with any additional questions. For any concerns after 5:30 pm, contact Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.  
  • With the exception of service animals, dogs are not allowed on FCPS school grounds, playgrounds, or sports fields at any time throughout the calendar year.
  • To ensure school staff have time to teach and reinforce cafeteria routines and procedures, we will be delaying the visitation of family members during lunch until October 1.
