Dear Cardinal Families,
We had a wonderful day welcoming our teachers back to our nest. We started our day at Madison High School for our pyramid kick-off and heard from author and Madison graduate, Ted Dintersmith, about reconnecting with our roles as educators and how we can best support our students this year. Afterwards, we held our own CPES kick-off and heard from our school leaders about our vision and goals for our year ahead. Our teachers and staff are already hard at work preparing exciting learning opportunities for your child. Please read below to see how you can prepare for a smooth start to the new school year.
Sincerely,
Allison Hoak, Principal
Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal
For everyone’s safety, please use the routes and locations marked below for our arrival and dismissal procedures, particularly when using Kiss and Ride. As we continue to ensure student safety and supervision, students should not arrive at school unsupervised/ without an adult earlier than 8:20 AM.
If your child is eating breakfast, please ensure that he/she arrives at school by 8:20 AM as breakfast starts at 8:20 AM. Our first bell for all students to enter the building is at 8:30 AM. Students are expected to be in their classroom when the second bell rings by 8:40 AM. If your child arrives after 8:40 AM, please sign in at the main office.
Kiss & Ride Information
- Use a single file line and do not pass other cars. Please be patient as some of our younger Cardinals are learning to get in and out of their cars.
- Please remain in your car.
- Children may enter and exit on the passenger side only.
- Make sure your child can independently buckle and unbuckle safety belts/car seats and open/close doors on their own.
- Placards for Kiss & Ride cars are being sent to families as soon as they are completed. Once you receive the placard, please display it on the dashboard of you car.
On the occasion that your child will be leaving school in a different way than usual, please call the office before 3:00 PM to notify us of this change.
All changes in afternoon transportation plans must be received by the office no later than 3:00 PM.
Families can view class assignment through ParentVUE on Thursday, August 17th. To access class assignments, please use the directions below.
Access your student’s attendance records, grades, and assignments at any time with SIS ParentVUE. Caregivers should receive an activation code when they register their child.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. Access SIS ParentVUE by using an app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices. Need help creating a SIS ParentVUE account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
Preparing for and Paying for Meals at School
Parents/caregivers need to provide their students with money to purchase meals at school, send them with a packed lunch, or apply (and be approved) for free and reduced-price meals benefits. School breakfast for students costs $1.75. Lunch is $3.25 for elementary students and $3.50 for middle, secondary, and high school students.
Paying With MySchoolBucks
The best way to purchase meals (and keep food lines moving!) is to use MySchoolBucks. Set up your student’s MySchoolBucks account today. Our front office staff can help with any questions.
MySchoolBucks accounts can be set up to add money to the account automatically, as needed. Families with multiple children can use the same MySchoolBucks account. Visit FCPS’ Food and Nutrition webpage for more information.
