 Dear Island Creek Families,
Excitement is in the air as staff prepare to welcome our Crocs! Thank you to FCPS as our parking lot white lines and curb have been repainted as well as our safety line on the sidewalk at Kiss & Ride. We are also appreciative of our Custodial Team for their deep cleaning of the building.
Enjoy the last week of summer vacation!
Sincerely,
Jen Fallert, Principal
Karen Baxter, Assistant Principal
Our staff has been strategic with class placements for the 2023-2024 school year. We take into account student strengths, learning styles and peers in the classroom along with strengths of our staff. We will share class placements with families via email by 5pm on Tuesday, August 15. As Island Creek is a dedicated Professional Learning Community, teachers at every grade level collaborate interdependently throughout the school year to support the academic and social-emotional achievement of all students. All teachers are highly qualified and were selected as members of the Island Creek staff because they meet the high standards and expectations we have in our community. Island Creek Staff are excited to meet their students on Thursday, August 17 at the Back to School Extravaganza!

Families who need to drop off medication for their child may do so during our Back to School Extravaganza on Thursday, August 17 from 8:30-4:00. Mediciation must be given to Nancy Hertzog, our Public Health Nurse, or Yuri Campos, our School Health Aid. FCPS policy does not permit medication to be dropped off with any other staff members other than the Public Health Nurse or School Health Aid.
Parents/caregivers need to provide their students with money to purchase meals at school, send them with a packed lunch, or apply (and be approved) for free and reduced-price meals benefits. School breakfast for students costs $1.75. Lunch is $3.25 for elementary students and $3.50 for middle, secondary, and high school students.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
The application for free and reduced-priced meals is now available for the 2023-24 school year. Students who were approved for free and reduced-price lunch last year are eligible for the first 30 days of school this year (or until a new application is processed). Families should re-apply as soon as possible for the 2023-24 school year, so eligible students continue to receive meals at no cost.
Paying With MySchoolBucks
The best way to purchase meals (and keep food lines moving!) is to use MySchoolBucks. Set up your student’s MySchoolBucks account today. Our front office staff can help with any questions.
MySchoolBucks accounts can be set up to add money to the account automatically, as needed. Families with multiple children can use the same MySchoolBucks account. Visit FCPS’ Food and Nutrition webpage for more information.
