General Information

Back to School Information

Our back-to-school information for families is posted on our website!  You can also find this information anytime by visiting our website and searching under announcements - Back to School.  We hope to see many of you at our back-to-school events in the coming weeks.

Please note official student schedules will be available via SIS (StudentVue and ParentVue) on Thursday, August 17.  In the meantime, any courses found on 3rd party applications (such as Talking Points, NoRed Ink, etc) are not official schedules and may be adjusted over the next 10 days.

Main Office Hours

The Main Office will be available from 8am-3pm from August 7 - August 18.  Beginning on August 21, we will resume our regular operating hours of 7:30am-4:00pm on Monday-Friday.

Student Parking Pass Applications

We are now accepting student parking pass applications for the 2023-2024 School Year.  For more information and the necessary application components, please see our website.  Parking pass applications will close on Friday, August 11.  If we have additional parking spots to give we will reopen the parking pass application later in the year.

Oakton's Mission and Vision Statements - Feedback Opportunity - Focus Group Dates Rescheduled

During the 2023-24 school year one area of focus will be revisiting Oakton's current mission and vision statements, as well as adding value statements.  As a part of this process we would love your initial feedback through this survey. The survey will remain open throughout the summer. More information can be found on the Oakton HS website under announcements.  We have found that the dates we selected for summer in-person focus groups have not aligned with many parent schedules.  We will be rescheduling them to a later date during the school year that will allow for greater participation and more meaningful discussion.  If you have not yet had the chance to fill out the feedback survey on your general hopes for our new mission, vision, and value statements we would appreciate it.

Testing Information

PSAT/SAT Information

On October 11, 2023, Oakton will offer the digital PSAT/NMSQT to students in grades 10-11 and the SAT to students in grade 12. Students who wish to test with accommodations can learn more about the process and requirements on our PSAT/SAT page. More information to come!

Safety and Security Updates

Anonymous Tip Line Puts Safety First

If you or your child have concerns or information relating to feeling unsafe in any way at school, we encourage you to reach out to a member of the security or administrative team so that we may quickly address the issue.  Students and parents may also utilize the FCPS Office of Safety and Security safety tip line, that you can access anonymously online, by text (888-777; Keyword TIP FCPS), or by phone (571-423-2020).

If your tip is an emergency and immediate assistance is necessary, please dial 911.

Students, staff, and community members should report school safety issues such as threats, unsafe or dangerous situations, illegal drug activity, theft, gang activity, the existence of weapons, vandalism, and concerns about student wellness. Tip line users may identify themselves or remain anonymous.

Concerns that do not impact the safety of our schools—concerns or information about programs, regulations, or policies—can be sent to the FCPS ombudsman online, at 571-423-4014, or ombudsman@fcps.edu
