Oak View Misses You!
Oak View cannot wait to fill our classrooms, cafeteria and hallways with more than 750 students beginning on Monday, August 21! Have you ever wondered what school looks like when you are away for summer? Check out the classrooms, cafeteria and hallways. They are very empty and very dim, waiting for you to return. However, you will notice that our floors sparkle and shine as our custodians take the entire summer to scrub and clean every single classroom and space! The 4-5 coats of wax they place on every floor also helps it look like glass - waiting for your arrival! We thank our amazing custodian team for their outstanding efforts to ready our building in only 8 short weeks. Cleaning a building means taking all of the furniture out of a classroom, cleaning every single piece, scrubbing and waxing the floors with multiple coats of wax then putting everything back in again. They even clean every single classroom carpet. This is a huge task for a team of 4 people and they make it happen every year. Next time you see a custodian, please tell them thank you for making Oak View beautiful.

Immunization Reminders for Return to School
🩹 Are Your Child’s Immunizations and Records Up to Date?
Immunizations are required for public school entry and help keep students protected from serious diseases. Many children missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood vaccinations during recent years because of disruptions from COVID-19. It is critical to catch up to keep children healthy and ready for school.
While COVID-19 vaccinations are not required, many other immunizations are. Check with your students’ healthcare providers now to make sure they are up to date on their immunizations.
Visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a list of clinics or contact your family’s healthcare provider. Appointments are required for most clinics.
Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations to provide to their school. Get more information on immunization requirements and the necessary documentation to share with your child’s school.

FCPS Strategic Plan
- 🎉 New School Year, New Strategic Plan
August not only marks the start of a new school year for FCPS, but our division is now officially being guided by our new 2023-30 strategic plan. This student-centered plan serves as our North Star for how teachers and staff will continue to ensure excellence, equity, and opportunity for each and every student.
Our students are preparing for careers that don’t exist today! In order to keep pace with their needs, we have reimagined our plans for the future and how to best serve our students in this new era.

Sub and Save the Day!
Oak View has a strong group of substitute teachers and we are always looking for kind and caring substitute teachers and substitute instructional assistants to add to our pool! Substitutes ensure our students continue to thrive when teachers and instructional assistants need to be out of the classroom. Substitute teaching is a great opportunity for future teachers, stay-at-home parents, retirees, college students, part-time employees, and anyone who wants to make a difference!
We provide substitutes with a flexible work schedule that a substitute teacher or substitute instructional assistant can tailor to their needs. This includes choosing the grade level(s) and subjects a substitute would like to teach, schools they would like to work at, and more!

Fairfax County Public Library - LEAP
FCPS is partnering with Fairfax County Public Libraries to provide Library Equity Access Passes (LEAP) to any FCPS student.
WHAT IS LEAP?
All students (PreK-12) in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) have LEAP accounts at FCPL. These public library virtual accounts allow students to check out up to three items at a time for six weeks each (no renewals).
WHY IS LEAP AWESOME?
- A student only needs their name, not a physical library card, to check out materials.
- LEAP accounts never charge fines or fees.
- A student can have a LEAP account as well as a standard library account (application online and in library branches). Standard accounts allow users to place holds on materials and access FCPL digital resources such as eBooks and databases.
