The first week of fall sports are underway! Each program had a bigger turnout for tryouts then last year! As we start the fall season, make sure that you get your Atoms Booster pass and bypass the line to get into our home events! We are excited about what is in store for Atoms Athletics this fall and we encourage our community to get and support!

Atoms Band Camp
A note from Director of Bands - Chad Steffey:
The Marching Atoms started band camp on Tuesday as student leaders welcomed freshmen and new members with games, music, and PRIDE! With 33 members this year, the band has been marching every morning, learning music in the afternoons, and getting to know one another with games and snacks. Dr. Chad Steffey, the new director of bands said, “I’ve never met a group of students so motivated to succeed and so eager to learn. The Marching Atoms are amazing young people; we’re going to have a great season!”
After just two days the band performed for the Region 6 Kickoff Celebration, representing Annandale High School with Pride and Excellence.
Band camp continues with full days next week, 8am-6pm; and then the following week from 3:30pm-6pm. Come hear the band in their Family Night Showcase on Friday, August 18, at 6:30pm at the stadium!

Band Camp will run from August 1-18, culminating in our annual Family Night and Showcase. A full schedule will be sent next week. In the meantime, please see important information about parent volunteers and required forms at the Annandale Bands website or email our Director of Bands, Chad Steffey, at casteffey@fcps.edu.
All marching band participants will need a VHSL Physical. You may download the form here: VHSL Physical Exam form
The Marching Atoms are eager to welcome members from other fine arts departments to join the color guard, tech crew, and front ensemble. Color guard involves choreographed dance, flags, sabers, and rifles. The tech crew involves audio equipment, props, and support equipment. The front ensemble includes mallet keyboards, percussion, and other electronic instruments. Violin, piano, and bass players are also welcome!

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help
Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year, starting with fall sports Football and Volleyball. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of the particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. Concessions not your thing? We need drivers to pick up Chick-Fil-A or to drop the bags back off (slots are on the sign up). Or help out with parking control or spirit wear sales. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters and we would love parents to come to meetings and learn how. Watch out for the Booster Blast and come to the next scheduled meeting, all are welcome! Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!

Special Ask... Atoms After School Snack Bar
As many of you know, the Atoms Athletic Boosters has been able to open our concessions stand after school for your children to grab a bite to eat prior to heading to their activities. If your schedule allows, please consider volunteering 1 day a week or even just 1-2 days a month. The hours are 3:15-4:15. This is a rare benefit in Fairfax County that we are able to provide for our kids, but we can’t do it without parent help.
