Principal Update
FREE Back to School Community Day!
Dear Garfield Families,
As we prepare to welcome our Eagles back into the building on August 21st, we would like to share some important dates with you.
Our Welcome Walk will take place Thursday, August 17th beginning at 2:30 pm. Our staff will be coming to each neighborhood to visit students and welcome them to a new school year!
Open House - Friday, August 18th from 1:00pm-3:00pm - families in grades K-6 will have an opportunity to meet their classroom teachers before the first day of school.
We have one more summer book mobile visit scheduled on August 10th.
In the next week, you will receive information directly from transportation regarding your child's bus route. If you have any questions please call our main office at 703-923-2900.
We are so excited to welcome back our Eagles and have an amazing school year!

The application to sign up for free and reduced meals is available online here. Applications from last year will expire on October 4th so please reapply prior to that date. If you need support, please contact the main office at 703-923-2900.
Medication Authorization Forms
The FCPS medication authorization forms have been updated for school year 23-24 and older versions cannot be accepted. Please use the links below for the updated forms:

Virginia Asthma Action Plan for inhalers: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/content/uploads/sites/58/2016/12/Asthma-Action-Plan-2019.pdf
Forms for all medications must be completed by a physician with the exception of over the counter medications (OTCs) for headaches, muscle aches, menstrual cramps or orthodontic pain. OTCs must be in original, unopened containers upon receipt.
