End of Summer and Return to School Information
Hello, Springfield District,
I hope you’re enjoying the last bit of summer!
Don’t miss the below late summer opportunity for students interested in artificial intelligence. The Girls Computing League is hosting an artificial intelligence summit on August 12 for students in grades 6-12.
Additionally, be your sure to provide input to the Virginia Department of Education around their proposed mathematics standards of learning and see the information regarding PSAT and SAT accommodations for students with disabilities and English language learners.
Lastly, while staff, students, and families have enjoyed some downtime this summer, planning for the new school year is underway as we prepare to welcome students back into our buildings on August 21st. I can’t believe it’s less than two weeks away!
The dates and times for Open Houses and Back-to-School Nights for students residing in the Springfield District are provided below. Schools are working to get information out to parents about back-to-school events. Please check your school's website and watch for emails for up-to-date information. If you have specific questions, please contact the school directly.
Enjoy the rest of your summer break!
All my very best-
Laura Jane

💻 Digital PSAT Replaces Paper; Accommodations Due August 8
This October, the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) will be administered in Fairfax County in a digital format. Some testing accommodations are administered differently for digital tests than for paper/pencil tests. Get information about accommodations for students with disabilities.
PSAT/NMSQT and SAT School Day
FCPS will offer access to the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT School Day for rising 10th through 12th-grade students at no cost to families. Exams will be held at each high school on Wednesday, October 11.
