General Information

Back to School Information

Our back-to-school information for families will be posted on our website during the week of July 31, 2023.  We are currently awaiting some last minute items from the division.  Once we have them, we will post all of our back-to-school information.  We are excited for the new school year ahead.

Main Office - Summer Hours

The Main Office will be available from 8:30am-12:30pm Monday - Friday during the summer.  The vast majority of school staff are not on contract at this time so we strongly encourage calling in advance to schedule an appointment to ensure that we are able to best assist you.

Student Parking Pass Applications - Now Open

We are now accepting student parking pass applications for the 2023-2024 School Year.  For more information and the necessary application components, please see our website.

Tutor.com - Online Tutoring Services Summer 2023 Access

FCPS students will continue to have unlimited access to 24/7, on-demand, online tutoring support services through Tutor.com during summer 2023.  Students are able to use Tutor.com during the summer to review and/or practice in subject areas of interest or need. Students may also choose to access other tools and services such as practice quizzes in a variety of subject areas as well as self-paced study courses for SAT/ACT preparation.

Details about how students can access Tutor.com via archived courses in Schoology are provided in Summer Access at Tutor.com - Online Tutoring Services, including a Summer Access Flyer.  Students enrolled in summer programs such as Credit Recovery Academy, Online Campus, Online Economics & Personal Finance, etc. will be able to access Tutor.com via their active summer course in Schoology.

Oakton's Mission and Vision Statements - Feedback Opportunity - Focus Group Dates Rescheduled

During the 2023-24 school year one area of focus will be revisiting Oakton's current mission and vision statements, as well as adding value statements.  As a part of this process we would love your initial feedback through this survey. The survey will remain open throughout the summer. More information can be found on the Oakton HS website under announcements.  We have found that the dates we selected for summer in-person focus groups have not aligned with many parent schedules.  We will be rescheduling them to a later date during the school year that will allow for greater participation and more meaningful discussion.  If you have not yet had the chance to fill out the feedback survey on your general hopes for our new mission, vision, and value statements we would appreciate it.

weCare@School Transition

As we continue to streamline FCPS applications and systems, FCPS has retired weCare@School at the end of last school year and will be moving that process into SIS ParentVUE. Parents will be able to log into ParentVUE to update emergency contacts, phone numbers, and student health conditions.  The process should be much simpler for parents and easier for schools to access. We will share specific instructions on how to do this with families as a part of our welcome back letter in August.

weCare and the weCare mobile application were retired at the end of the 2022-23 school year.  Parent Access ended on June 16, 2023.

Class of 2023 - Graduation Pictures

During graduation, Victor O'Neill Studios was on hand to take professional photos of our graduates. Photographs will be available here for your review and purchase.

Class of 2024  - Senior Portraits

It’s hard to believe it but your senior year is coming up! Unlike years past, this year you will need to schedule a portrait session  to have your senior portrait taken. Information on how to schedule your senior portrait can be found on the Oakton HS website under announcements.

9th Grade Orientation - Save the Date

We are excited to host our incoming 9th graders for orientation on Thursday, August 17, 2023 in the morning.  More detailed plans will be released closer to the event. No registration is required for 9th grade orientation.

Testing Information

PSAT/SAT Information

On October 11, 2023, Oakton will offer the digital PSAT/NMSQT to students in grades 10-11 and the SAT to students in grade 12. Students who wish to test with accommodations can learn more about the process and requirements on our PSAT/SAT page. More information to come!

Student Services Updates

Safety and Security Updates

Anonymous Tip Line Puts Safety First

If you or your child have concerns or information relating to feeling unsafe in any way at school, we encourage you to reach out to a member of the security or administrative team so that we may quickly address the issue.  Students and parents may also utilize the FCPS Office of Safety and Security safety tip line, that you can access anonymously online, by text (888-777; Keyword TIP FCPS), or by phone (571-423-2020).

If your tip is an emergency and immediate assistance is necessary, please dial 911.

Students, staff, and community members should report school safety issues such as threats, unsafe or dangerous situations, illegal drug activity, theft, gang activity, the existence of weapons, vandalism, and concerns about student wellness. Tip line users may identify themselves or remain anonymous.

Concerns that do not impact the safety of our schools—concerns or information about programs, regulations, or policies—can be sent to the FCPS ombudsman online, at 571-423-4014, or ombudsman@fcps.edu
