 This summer has flown by! Thank you to all our families who met one of our book mobiles, came to the 1st playdate, or stopped by the library. Our next playdate is aimed at our rising Kindergarteners, but all are welcome on Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM. This exciting gathering offers the perfect opportunity for your child to forge new friendships with fellow students who will be joining Lemon Road in a month!
If you haven't already, here are some items to mark off your to do list:
- Take a photo of your child reading and email it to goburke@fcps.edu for use in our Welcome Back News Show
- Have your child complete as many activities as they can on the Summer Activity Board; Digital copies of the board can be accessed here when logged into your child's fcpsschools.net account
- Students in grades 4 - 6, please select your instrument or general music for the upcoming year using this survey
- Purchase and label your child's backpack, refillable water bottle, and lunch box
The flooring project is coming to a close and our front office is open! Stop by or call for an appointment between 8:30 - 2:30 most days. Read below for more information about our back to school events. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer!
The Lemon Road ES Library had beautiful new carpet installed. We need your help to get the books back on the shelves and the library ready for students! Please consider signing up to help unbox and shelve books on Wednesday, August 9 between 9 am - noon, 1pm- 4pm, or both shifts if you have time. This will be an excellent opportunity for students who need service hours. There may also be volunteer opportunities on August 10 and 11. School will be starting before we know it! Each student is asked to provide the supplies needed for their classroom each year. Many families purchased these supplies through our vendor, Campus Survival, but if you didn't yet, you can go online and purchase the items requested for your child's grade level: https://lemonroades.fcps.edu/academics/school-supply-lists
Please bring your child's supplies to Open House (August 18) or send with them on the first day of school (August 21). If your family needs assistance with school supplies and other financial requests, please contact our Family Liaison, Ms. Mabel Morales at mvmorales@fcps.edu
Open House
We are thrilled to invite you to our Open House on Thursday, August 17th! This event is designed to give families the opportunity to meet your child's teacher and explore the classroom. Kindergarten families are welcome to visit the classrooms between 1:00 - 1:45 PM. Rising 1st - 6th grade families may visit the rooms between 2:30 - 3:15 PM. If your child cannot attend Open House, staff will be available on the first day of school to assist students in locating their classrooms. You may also find their teacher assignment in ParentVue beginning August 16th.
New Family Orientation
Families new to Lemon Road are invited to join us in the cafeteria for an orientation session and guided tour on Thursday, August 17th at 1:30 PM. This information will be similar to what was shared at Kindergarten Orientation in the spring. Kindergarten families may join
Welcome Back BBQ
All Lemon Road families are invited to the back parking lot and playground for our annual Welcome Back BBQ Thursday, August 17th at 3:15 PM. Staff will grill hot dogs/veggie dogs and chips and drinks will be provided.
