Thank you to our rising 1st and 2nd Grade students and families for attending last week's popsicle event! It was wonderful reconnecting with so many students and families, as well as meeting those new to Island Creek. Thank you to two of our First Grade Teachers, Ms. Krista Edwards and Ms. Samantha Jacobson, for taking time from their summer break to meet students and families.
 
Island Creek had seven staff members attend the FCPS Summer Equity Symposium earlier this week. The Equity Symposium is an opportunity for all FCPS employees to come together to engage in learning that promotes growth, reflection, and continuous improvement as we seek a culture of inclusivity, equity, diversity, and belonging. We are always looking for kind and caring substitute teachers and substitute instructional assistants to ensure our students continue to thrive when teachers and instructional assistants need to be out of the classroom. Substitute teaching is a great opportunity for future teachers, stay-at-home family members, retirees, college students, part-time employees, and anyone who wants to make a difference! Substitute instructional assistant pay will be $17.08 per hour and substitute teacher pay will be $19.05 per hour for the 2023-24 school year.
