Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying your summer break.
My name is Amos Simms-Smith and I am the new principal of Navy ES. I am honored to join this amazing school community. It was great to meet some of you last week, and I am excited to get to know each of you as we work together to provide an engaging, high-quality education for your students.

I have been in education for over 20 years in Boston Public Schools and FCPS, and have worked in various roles, including classroom teacher, central office administrator, and elementary assistant principal. I am passionate about education and lead with empathy and compassion. I am also committed to creating a safe and supportive learning environment where all students feel welcome, staff feel supported, and families feel valued. I also look forward to learning more about the traditions that help to create that environment at Navy ES (I’ve already been told to begin practicing my jump shot for the annual basketball game).
To students, I am so excited to meet each and every one of you! I hope you are having a fun and relaxing summer. I look forward to interacting with you at Kiss N’ Ride, the bus loop, in the hallways, in the cafeteria, and in your classrooms. It is going to be fun year learning together.
I will be sending out more information about myself and plans for the upcoming school year in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Families play a crucial role in a school environment, and I welcome your involvement.
Thank you for your continued support of Navy ES and I look forward to working alongside you to keep Navy the amazing, high-achieving school it is.
Sincerely,
Amos O. Simms-Smith
Principal Navy ES
