 Students in our Bridge to K program were the first to officially enjoy our brand new playground equipment. The ribbon cutting was followed by recess for these young students.
New Play Structures for Weyanoke Playground
In July, National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) school leaders volunteered at Weyanoke Elementary School for their annual Day of Service. It was great to have an opportunity to welcome educators from around this great country to our FCPS schools. There was a great deal of weeding, hauling, and mulch distribution among other activities.
With support from Landscape Structures and Sparks@Play, more than 75 volunteers gathered in our upper playground to build new equipment and take part in other outdoor and indoor projects to help the school get ready for a new year. Thanks to a generous grant from the NAESP, our Woodchucks will benefit from this dedication and hard work for years to come.
Principal Felicia Usher, school staff members, our FCPS bus drivers, and volunteers all worked hard to prepare for the fall and an amazing school year ahead. "I'm very very happy that our school gets something nice and new and that all of our students will be able to access it," Weyanoke principal Felicia Usher said. "The kids are also extremely excited, of course, to be able to have something new to play on." Well done!

Virginia Medicaid Update
Virginia has begun reviewing members’ eligibility for health coverage to make sure they still qualify. Virginia Medicaid will not cancel or reduce coverage for members without asking for updated information. In fact, Virginia Medicaid may be able to renew your coverage without asking you for anything. If so, you will get a letter in the mail letting you know your health care coverage will continue. If Virginia Medicaid does not have all information to renew your benefits, you will get a form or a checklist in the mail to complete and return by a certain date. Please make sure we have your updated contact information so we can reach you. Members who do not respond will not be eligible to keep their Medicaid health coverage. Members can respond in one of the following ways:
- Online at commonhelp.virginia.gov using the case number and client ID on the renewal form to associate the member's case to a CommonHelp account;
- Call Cover Virginia at 1-855-242-8282 (TTY: 1-888-221-1590). (Have the requested information gathered and ready to give over the phone);
- By completing the form/documents and sending them in the prepaid return envelope by the due date; or
- By completing the form/documents and submitting them by fax or in person at the member's local Department of Social Services.
