Fort Belvoir Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying some time with family and friends this summer to have fun, relax, and rejuvenate. I am thrilled to finally walk the halls of Fort Belvoir Upper Elementary; this has been quite a journey!
As many of you know, military families have a very special place in my heart, as I spent many years as an active duty spouse. This gave my family an opportunity to live in many amazing places across America. When my husband retired, we decided to come back to the east coast and grow some roots in Northern Virginia. As principal of Fort Belvoir Upper Elementary, I am so pleased that I will be able to continue working with military connected families. Your children are some of the most amazing and resilient young people, but they also have unique needs. Please know that I am here to listen, support, and help you navigate through any transitions.
I am not the only new leader at our Fort Belvoir schools. I am so very excited to partner with Dr. Zed Jemison, principal at the primary school. We will work together this year to collaborate and communicate common expectations, school events, and celebrations. Everyone on our leadership team is here to help in any way possible, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Aug 17 2:00-3:00pm Open House (meet and greet teachers/drop off materials)
Sep 21 5:30-6:30pm Back to School Night (learn about curriculum/year at a glance)
Teachers will work with families to schedule individual conferences during the first quarter as well. This schedule is a bit different from the Listening Conferences done in previous years. If you would like to have a conversation sooner, please contact the classroom teacher in the first few weeks of school.
Also, look for information from the PTA as there are many exciting events and volunteer opportunities coming up. I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to support the success of our Fort Belvoir Dolphins this school year!
