Greetings, Irving Families!

We hope you are enjoying the summer and finding ways to stay cool in the muggy start to July. While it is still early in summer, we are deep into planning for the upcoming school year and looking forward to seeing our students in just a few weeks. Below are a few updates and some information that we hope you will find useful.

We would like to wish Ms. Emily Cincinnati (rising 8th grade Assistant Principal) all the best in her next adventure as an assistant principal at Lewis High School. Ms. Cincinnati has been an amazing support to our staff and students as she helped guide us through returning to school during COVID, ensured students’ needs were met through various meetings, and provided our students opportunities to grow as she served as a mentor, and created our first Literacy Night! We are grateful to Ms. Cincinnati for her commitment to Irving MS and know she will continue to do great things at Lewis High School. We will be naming our new Assistant Principal soon - stay tuned!

We are also excited to announce that Ms. Kristal Edwards will be our new Special Education Department Chair. Ms. Edwards will begin in this new role on July 13! In her tenure at Irving Middle School, Ms. Edwards has taught 8th grade Science, she was a pilot teacher for POG POL, and a Staff Advisory Lead Teacher. We look forward to seeing the department continue to grow under Ms. Edward’s leadership!

Take Care!

Summer READ! Program for Rising 7th and 8th Graders

Irving Middle School invites you to participate in its Summer READ! Program.  Students have the choice to read from among 24 different options on a bingo-type card.  When students complete one of the reading options in a square, they use this Google form to report to Irving what they read.  For each square that a student completes, one entry will be made for a drawing for one of four $25 Barnes & Noble gift cards.  Students may enter up to 24 times, by reading all 24 of the options listed on the bingo card.  Students may only win 1 gift card.  The winners will be announced and the prizes awarded at Irving next school year.  A link to both the bingo card and the Google Form will remain on the Irving school website throughout the summer.
