The Island Creek Custodial Team has been busy cleaning the inside of the building as we prepare to welcome over 200 students from 12 elementary schools for the Extended School Year (ESY) program starting Wednesday, July 5.
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for purchasing a sensory path for our preschool hallway as it looks amazing! (Picture shown below)

Summer Office Hours
Island Creek’s summer office hours are 9:00am-12:00pm Monday thru Friday or by appointment.
All FCPS Offices and Schools are closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 for the Independence Day Holiday.

Island Creek is hiring student monitors for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested, or know someone who is, please email Kathleen Black at knblack@fcps.edu and use this link to apply. We are looking for candidates who can work Monday-Friday, 8:10am- 3:40pm.
Description: Provides supervision of students throughout the school day to include but not limited to the classroom, hallways, lunch, recess, specials and at arrival/dismissal; helps maintain order and discipline and assists in managing the behavior of students; operates technology; performs administrative and non-instructional duties; ensures all layered prevention/safety protocols and procedures are implemented and followed; works with individual and small groups of students.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Must be comfortable managing student behaviors in large and small groups, ensuring all layered prevention/safety protocols and procedures are implemented and followed; and has general familiarity/skills with basic office technology in support of teachers, students, and the classroom.
Hourly pay: $16.85

The Fairfax County Public Library has tons of print, audio, and Ebook options. Go to the website on your computer or download the Libby by Overdrive app on your tablet or phone.
MyOn has many books at a variety of levels, including many chapter books.
- Students log in with their FCPS username and password.
Tumblebooks has a variety of levels, including many chapter books.
- After signing in, click on the ebook tab for chapter bookss.
MackinVia is a collection of FCPS ebooks and audiobooks.
- Students log in with their FCPS username and password.
Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children free of charge. Visit the Summer Meals website for more details.
