Floris Families,
It was fabulous to see so many of our Floris families at Open House yesterday, and we can't wait to see our students on Monday for the first day of school.
Our doors will open on Monday at 9:00am. School officially begins at 9:15am, with dismissal at 4:00pm.
Arrival and dismissal (buses and Kiss and Ride) are often challenging at the beginning of the year. We thank you in advance for your patience as transportation, Floris staff, parents, and students work through those beginning of year kinks, keeping safety at the forefront of all decisions.
Our staff have requested that we give our Eagles time to acclimate to school routines and procedures. Therefore, we will not be accepting lunch visitors or classroom volunteers in the first few weeks of school. We appreciate your support as we prepare our students for a fabulous year. Please watch for details on when we are ready to accept volunteers and lunch visitors.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we will see our students on Monday!

#EveryEagleEveryDay
Monday, August 21, is the first day of school for the 2023-24 school year. See the complete school year calendar.
FCPS parents, students, and staff members are invited to share their favorite pictures or videos from the first day of school on social media using the hashtag #FirstDayFairfax.
We will share some of the photos on FCPS Facebook and Instagram.
Digital Resources Consent
At Floris, we use a variety of digital tools to support meaningful student learning. Some of these tools require parental consent before they can be used.
This year, FCPS has compiled a central, district-wide list of these resources, all of which have been thoroughly researched and vetted. Please note that these digital resources are opt-in, meaning that the default response to the consent form is no. In order for your child to access all of these resources, a consent form is required.
🔗You can find the list of resources and provide consent here. 🔗
Please reach out to our School Based Technology Specialist, Willa McGrath (wimcgrath@fcps.edu) or your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns. THANK YOU!
Floris Schoolwide Birthday Celebration Policy
Due to safety and allergy concerns, Floris does not allow edible birthday treats in the school to celebrate student birthdays. This includes homemade and prepackaged treats. Great birthday celebration ideas are to send in a book for the class library or asking the teacher for an extra class recess to celebrate the birthday! You are welcome to send in non-edible birthday items, provided one per student in the class is supplied.
Thank you for your understanding!
