Congratulations to Our 6th Grade Lions!

On Monday morning our 6th grade students celebrated their completion of elementary school at a Promotion Ceremony. Here are just a few pictures from that special event. We wish all of our 6th grade Lane Lions great success in middle school!

Senior Lane Lions Walk the Halls Again with Pride

On Tuesday, former Lane students graduating this year from Hayfield Secondary School and Edison High School came back to visit their old elementary school as part of the celebration of this educational milestone. Current students lined the hallways clapping and cheering for their fellow Lane Lions.

See You in August, Lane Lions!

Each year ends with the entire Lane staff cheering on students and waving goodbye as the buses load and then pull away. Thankfully, today's stormy weather pattern allowed the sun to shine at just the right time!

We would like to wish all of our Lane lion families a terrific summer vacation. It’s been a great school year, and our partnership with you was essential in making it successful.

To those families who are returning to Lane next year, we look forward to seeing you when school resumes in August.

Please note: The school office will be open limited hours this summer, from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Be sure to call before  you visit to make sure the person you need to see is available.

Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, the “Feast of Sacrifice,” June 28th – 29th

Eid Mubarak to all who observe! Eid al-Adha, or the “Feast of Sacrifice,” is the second of two main holidays celebrated in Islam. Eid al-Adha signifies the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim, known as Abraham in Christianity and Judaism, to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as ordered by Allah. It focuses on sacrifice, the pilgrimage to Mecca, and giving to those less fortunate. Learn more in this video from PBS Kids.

LGBTQIA+

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month

In the month of June, we recognize the resilience and determination of the many individuals who are fighting to live freely and authentically. We stand with those facing an ongoing struggle against discrimination and injustice. This Pride Month, we affirm our obligation to uphold the dignity of all people. Each individual in our school community should feel valued for who they are and free to be their authentic self.

Mental Wellness Summer Supports

The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from June 26th to August 4th. Any FCPS parent or secondary student can schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference. Consultations will be offered in two ways:

  • Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social, emotional, and academic success. Information about community resources will also be provided.
  • Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides an opportunity for middle and high school students to receive guidance and support for concerns related to anxiety, mood, behavior, peer or family interactions, or school transitions and changes. Strategies and tools can also be provided to address academic challenges such as organization and time management.

All parents and secondary students are encouraged to take advantage of this service. Consultations can be requested online or by calling 703-503-2520 and leaving a message.
