Principal's Message

69

Hello Shrevewood Families,

Wow! What a week we had here at Shrevewood! Between the Band and Chorus Concert, 4th grade students in Mrs. Tucker's classroom video chatting with other students in Jamaica for their Global Classroom Project, and a number of classes completing their Portrait of a Graduate Presentation of Learning, we have been very busy as we close out the end of the school year.

As a reminder, Field Day is now on Monday, June 12th. We know that there is currently rain in the forecast. We are planning to still hold Field Day unless there are severe weather concerns. Please send your child to school in appropriate clothing for the weather.

Next Friday is the last day of school, and all FCPS schools dismiss early. Shrevewood will dismiss at 2:05 p.m. next Friday, June 16, and our front office will close at 2:40 p.m.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Katie Vandawalker, Assistant Principal

Health Room End-of-Year Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school, 2:05 p.m. on June 16. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Shrevewood Supply Lists 2023

Reminder about Cell Phone Use

In elementary school, kindergarten-sixth grade students' phones must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. Students are prohibited from using phones, smart watches, tablets, and other mobile devices in restrooms, the cafeteria, and at recess unless there is a true emergency.  The full SR&R can be accessed online at: https://www.fcps.edu/srr
