A Message from our Principal SLES

Dear Stratford Landing Families,

We are so proud of the work of our students and teachers this school year. Be sure to thank a teacher. They deserve it!

We have a lot of learning celebrations from this school year. Just today, a student told me, “Mr. Morris, when is the first day of school next year? I can’t wait!” When I asked another student about their summer, they said, “I’d rather be in school.” That is great evidence of our collective impact and that our school is a place where students are joyful and feel like they belong. We know we have areas of growth as a school, and we will continue to collaboratively problem solve, learn and grow together to ensure all students feel safe, supported and that they belong at Stratford Landing.

I’d also like to extend a special thanks to the numerous family volunteers that impacted our school culture positively. From mystery readers to room parents, the involvement of our community is a hallmark of the Stratford Landing experience. Our PTA, under the leadership of Mrs. Amber Marchand, went above and beyond this school year to support our students, teachers and families both socially and academically.

See you in August. It’s just around the corner.

Kevin Morris, Principal

Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is FCPS policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student

If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school (June 16, anytime between 8:30 am- 1:55 pm) and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s). If you have any questions, contact our school health aid, Jeanne O'Hara, at 703-619-3610.

Mental Wellness Summer Supports

The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from June 26 to August 4. Any FCPS parent or secondary student can schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference. Consultations will be offered in two ways:

This consultation provides an opportunity for middle and high school students to receive guidance and support for concerns related to anxiety, mood, behavior, peer or family interactions, or school transitions and changes. Strategies and tools can also be provided to address academic challenges such as organization and time management.

All parents and secondary students are encouraged to take advantage of this service. Consultations can be requested online or by calling 703-503-2520 and leaving a message.
