We held our first annual All Athletes Celebration on Tuesday, May 30. It was an awesome night full of reflection, recognition, and celebration for our Atoms student-athletes! In this weeks newsletter you will see a recap of our celebration from this past year!

All Athletes End of Year Celebration and Next Level Ceremony
We celebrated our student-athletes, coaches, and programs during our All Athletes End of Year Celebration last week. During the celebration we recognized the following:

Team Academic GPA Award Winners
This award goes to a Boys and Girls team that achieved the highest percentage of student-athletes, with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

3 Peat Athletes
This award was established over 20 years ago to recognize those student-athletes who participated in three different sports during the athletic year. Each of these recipients will receive an “Atoms Three Sport Athletes” t-shirt!

Special Recognition Awards
During the celebration, we celebrated special achievements by a few of our Annandale Atoms.
* Callia Uviedo - Field Hockey, National District Player of the Year
* Olivia Cruz - Soccer, National District Player of the Year
* Jake Vaughn - Soccer, National District Coach of the Year
* Kathy Ayers - Retiring Athletic Trainer; 33 years as a teacher and athletic trainer at Annandale High School
* Mike Scott - Former Head Football Coach; 14 years as the head football coach at Annandale High School (not present at the celebration)
Atoms Inspiration Award
This award goes to two senior student-athletes who have demonstrated leadership qualities that encourage teammates to never give up. A student-athlete who acts as a role model and demonstrates their leadership skills by example to their teammates, peers, and coaches.

Atomic Atom Award
This award goes to two senior student-athletes and is not just for the MVP of a team. It is meant to recognize what we call an Atomic Atom. An all around athlete that possesses the qualities. A student-athlete that may not have all the accolades but an individual that performs in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. An Atomic Atom is an exceptional person and so, too, are the recipients of this award.

These awards are for those who have set themselves apart from others with their accolades, leadership qualities, and performances during their four years at Annandale High School.
