We will have new procedures for students to request a parking pass on campus for the 2023-24 school year. The entire process will be completed online, with the application opening on July 24, 2023. MWAA Automotive Showcase
Lake Braddock hosted a wonderful event on Thursday, where the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority celebrated the donation of automobiles to FCPS. Local news channels were here to report on the event and we hope to have more details and links soon.
In the meantime, enjoy NBC4's coverage here.
New Middle School Afterschool Specialist
On June 12, our new MS Afterschool Specialist will join Bruin Nation! Jerald Minnis is a proud graduate of High Point University. He received his degree in Recreation Management after being inspired by his career in collegiate basketball. He began his career working with adolescents 15+ years ago. Prior to working with FCPS, he worked for Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services as Director of the Reston Teen Center, where he oversaw and managed after school programs and summer camps for the Reston-Herndon area. He has led many initiatives throughout his career and earned the Fairfax County Team Excellence Award for being a key role in creating, developing, and implementing an 8-week grant funded program for students in Juvenile Domestic Relations District Court. This program helped pay for the participants' restitution and provide them with a 3-month long county-wide basketball league. He is very excited and looks forward to this next chapter in his career at Lake Braddock Secondary School. Jerald's hope is to build countless positive developmental relationships with students and develop an after-school program that fully reflects the Lake Braddock community. Go Bruins!

Mental Wellness Summer Supports
The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from June 26 to August 4. Any FCPS parent or secondary student can schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference. Consultations will be offered in two ways:
- Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social, emotional, and academic success. Information about community resources will also be provided.
- Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides an opportunity for middle and high school students to receive guidance and support for concerns related to anxiety, mood, behavior, peer or family interactions, or school transitions and changes. Strategies and tools can also be provided to address academic challenges such as organization and time management.
All parents and secondary students are encouraged to take advantage of this service. Consultations can be requested online or by calling 703-503-2520 and leaving a message.
For High School Only: Hazel Health: Virtual Therapy Services for High School Students
Teletherapy services will continue to be available for all FCPS high school students at no cost this summer. Sessions can be scheduled Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hazel’s highly-qualified therapists specialize in speaking “teen.”
Caregivers must first opt in their students to access Hazel Health. Then, a caregiver or school counselor, social worker, or psychologist can refer the student to Hazel for services. Learn more on the FCPS teletherapy webpage.

Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance
It’s a busy time of year, and we know there are many priorities on families’ plates. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important for families to remember to check their students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Families who earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2023-24 school year will be available near the end of August.
If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2022-23 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price lunch.
If you are interested in helping to relieve lunch debt for families currently going through the FRM application process, please donate to Educate Fairfax.
