esol showcase

This past week our beginning English level ESOL students prepared a learning fair about Countries they are interested in. Students shared their research with visitors in the form of slideshows, games, and marble runs. This event gave them the opportunity to practice their communication skills as they presented their work and answered questions from Stone students, staff, and family members.

Dear Stone Parents and Families,

We have reached the last week of school. Our students have been working hard on culuminating projects in all classes.

This week will be full of end of year activities and celebrations. Please remind your students that behavioral expectations of Stone students are still expected throughout this week.

7th graders will participate in their end of year awards ceremony on Tuesday June 13th during panther block. The event will be livestreamed via Zoom and the link will be sent to 7th grade families on Monday.

8th graders will participate in their end of year promotion ceremony on Tuesday June 13th at 6pm at Westfield High School.

All students will get to participate in our Neon Day Party on Thursday June 15th.

Friday June 16th is the last day of school with a 2 hour early release.

Let's have a great week Panthers!!!!

Sincerely,

Sonya Williams

Principal

8th grade promotion ceremony

We will ask students to check with staff as they arrive so that we can seat them accordingly. It is suggested to have your students arrive at 5:45pm for check in. We would love for your students to be dressed for the occasion.

Students will be sitting in alphabetical order on the gym floor so it is very important that they check in with Stone staff members.

Early Identification Program

We are excited that Stone Middle has been selected by FCPS & George Mason University to have an Early Identification Program. Early identification Program aka EIP is a muli-year college preparatory program for first generation college bound students. To gather information to plan for the program  which is scheduled to begin in the 24-25 school year, we would like for families to complete a needs assessment at https://forms.gle/f8xViPy7CYPmSQNm6,  Spanish translation: https://forms.gle/tAkaR3LRLbCxCAjeA

Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance!

It’s a busy time of year, and we know there are many priorities on families’ plates. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important for families to remember to check their students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

Families who earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2023-24 school year will be available near the end of August.

If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2022-23 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price lunch.

If you are interested in helping to relieve lunch debt for families currently going through the FRM application process, please donate to Educate Fairfax.

Expunging High School Credits

High school credit courses taken in grades 7 and 8 become part of the student’s high school transcript and are included in the calculation of the high school Grade Point Average (GPA).
