   General Information
Class of 2023 Information
Today we were excited to celebrate the last day of classes for the Class of 2023! We also were able to hear from our students who participated in the Internship Program and all the amazing experiences they had!
All information that we have sent out this school year regarding the Class of 2023 and graduation can be found here on Oakton's website. This includes the most updated senior letter which was emailed on Friday, June 2. One final senior letter will be sent this week which will include which side of the arena students will be seated on for graduation. This will help inform families on their seating selection for the event.
Class of 2023 Graduation
On Friday, June 9 we will be celebrating the Class of 2023 in our graduation ceremony at 2:00pm at EagleBank Arena. More information can be found in the senior letters (linked below). If you would like to watch our livestream of graduation, you may do so here.
Due to our graduation time, all underclassmen will be released at 10:30am to allow school staff the time to prepare and transition to graduation. .
Library Books Due
It’s time to check around the house, in cars, under beds, in lockers, and in backpacks to find misplaced and overdue library books. All library books were due Friday, June 2. There are currently 300 books still checked out! Please help get library books back in so replacement copies are not purchased unnecessarily.
Books can be returned at any of our book drop locations at the school. There is a book return slot outside of the main library entrance as well as a book return slot inside the library at the circulation desk. There is also a book drop outside of the school, by the main entry at Door 1, which can be used any time of day, including after school hours and weekends.
Students can check their FCPS gmail account for an email about which books they have checked out.
Host Families Needed
The French department is seeking host families for students who will be visiting from Vesoul, France in October. The students will arrive on October 16 and will depart on October 24th. They will spend 3 days at school shadowing their host student and will also spend time touring the area with their classmates and teachers (host families are not expected to attend these excursions).
If you are interested in hosting, please email Emily Fugate-Brunino (ekfugatebrun@fcps.edu) as soon as possible and please indicate if you prefer a male or female student. We’d like to have families signed up as soon as possible so that students can begin communicating and getting to know one another. Please note, students and their families do not have to speak French to host.

Sports Health Screening Night
The Oakton High School Athletic Training Program is offering an opportunity for students to receive a sports health screening and pre-participation physical (PPE) on Monday June 5, 2023 from 5:30-8 pm. Our team physicians and certified athletic trainers will be on hand to provide a thorough screening including a postural exam, flexibility evaluation, and information regarding what each of those assessments mean. If, during the screening or physical the physicians find something that is questionable to them regarding your child’s health, they may request further evaluation by another physician. We are asking for a donation of $50 for the PPE. To pre-register for a PPE, go to: 2023 Athletic Physical Registration and follow the links to Athletic Physicals (PPE). The link is now active. You can also find a link to the new Physical form at that site. Walk-ins are also welcome on that evening but we ask for a $60 donation at that time. You can pay for the PPE through my school bucks at the following link: https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/stores/catalog/getproduct?requestAction=ViewAll&clientKey=ZZI5ZQWBKS04NJ8&productGroupKey=ZZIOEEZJBP0RROF&view=&productKey=ZZ5QPAELMZYWA2U
If your son or daughter is thinking of playing a sport, he/she will need to have a VHSL pre-participation examination (PPE) completed on the official VHSL physical form. This exam must be dated after May 1, 2023 in order for your son/daughter to be eligible to participate on any team, including pre-season conditioning. The physical exam on page 3 must be completed and signed by a physician, a nurse practitioner or a physician’s assistant (MD, NP, PA, or DO).

Oakton Pantry
Lots of shout-outs today! We are so grateful for the many individuals, groups, and teams in the Oakton community who so generously support the Pantry throughout the year.
Thank you to the Oakton Crew Team! Over the past 2 weeks they've delivered a wide range of food to the Pantry including bagels, chocolate milk, granola bars, and juice. These donations have been incredibly helpful as we wind down the year and prepare for our final distribution on Thursday.
Thank you Oakton Boys LAX! At their end of year celebration the team collected toiletries and other items for our final grocery distribution of the school year. We are so appreciative of your generosity -- this will help us make sure that students are well-stocked for summer break.
When Nicole Seevers heard about the Pantry’s critical shortage of feminine hygiene products she and her rising OHS freshman daughter Caroline immediately sprang into action.
This dynamic duo organized a “period products” drive and got so many donations from their friends and her own company Wellness Feast’s clients that the Pantry was set with supplies for over a month!
And finally, a belated thank you to the Touching Heart club at Oakton! They are a small but mighty club and we are grateful for the food collection they organized earlier this spring.
Please note that the Pantry will be closed during summer break. If you are facing a food emergency, please contact Assistant Principal Mary Landis at mflandis@fcps.edu.
