West Springfield High School will no longer accept checks for payment of activities or obligations through the end of this school year.
Parents and families can make payments via MySchoolBucks, money order or cash.
Google Access for Seniors and Students Leaving FCPS: A Message from IT
Students, as you prepare to graduate or transfer from FCPS, it’s important to know that your FCPS Google Workspace account will be automatically deactivated the day after your last full day of enrollment. Once your account is deactivated, you will not be able to login to your FCPS Google account or access your FCPS Gmail.
It is important that you download any files you wish to keep before your last day of school in FCPS.
Instructions for downloading your Google data are on the Google Workspace Information for Students and Parents page of the FCPS website. Students will also have a tech lesson during their Learning Seminar to help close out the year.
Please work with the Tech Support Team if you have questions.
Medication Pick Up From Health Room
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after the last day of school will be destroyed.
It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by FCPS, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
For questions, call the heath room at (703) 913-3810, or email Laura Settles, School Health Aid.
SIS End-of-Year Events
Every year FCPS “takes down” Student Information System (SIS) offline to complete End of Year activities. These activities include rolling over approximately 180,000 records of student data from the 2022-23 to the 2023-24 school year. Please be advised that:
- SIS, ParentVUE, and StudentVUE will be unavailable for all users from Thursday, June 23 at 4pm until Monday, June 27 at 6am for system updates for SY 2023-24.
- DIT-generated weekly grade book progress reports will not be emailed to parents/guardians after June 12.
- ParentVUE and StudentVUE Attendance, Grade Book, and Report Card modules will close on June 23.
Laptop Collection
As we near the end of the school year, it's time to start preparing for the return and check-in of student laptops. Students, please take note of the following important information regarding the process:
- Remove any stickers on your laptop before you return your laptop and charger
- If you are missing a charger, students can buy a new one on MySchoolBucks and pick it up in the Tech Office (2451) the next morning.
- Student Laptop return days are:
- Underclass - June 14 & 15
- Summer School students will need to “Check-Out” their laptops for use during the summer. (They should report to Collaboration Room 3 during Laptop Return Days).
- Students who do not need their laptops for the rest of the year may return their laptops to the Tech Office (Rm 2451) during the following times:
🥗 Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance!
It’s a busy time of year, and we know there are many priorities on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important for families to remember to check their students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Families who earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2023-24 school year will be available near the end of August.
Families who have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals are asked to fill out the FRM application for the 2022-23 school year.
If you are interested in helping to relieve lunch debt for families who are currently going through the FRM application process, you may donate to Educate Fairfax.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION
Graduation & Underage Drinking
Completing high school is one of life’s most memorable moments and biggest achievements, which is often punctuated with celebrations with friends and family. While high school graduates are officially heading into young adulthood, they may choose to celebrate with alcohol. As adults, we must continue to model appropriate behaviors which include following the law. It has become commonplace for parents, often in an effort to be “friends” with their children, to provide alcohol at graduation parties.
Sadly, promoting underage drinking is a recipe for big problems that can lead to devastating consequences for both parents and teens. From legal problems and accidents to dangerous overdoses, the risks of giving minors alcohol at parties are very real.
