Dear Stenwood Families,
We have so many fun and exciting events happening in these last weeks of school! It was so wonderful to see so many of our sixth grade parents chaperone the annual Metro Field Trip - it is such an honored tradition! Our second graders also wowed their families with their writing today! Today was an wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Marshall Graduates! There are many more events in the next two weeks.
Thank you to our PTA who brought amazing science labs to us, many classes have already attended this week and the rest will attend before the end of the year.
Next week we have our band and strings concert on Tuesday and the Battle of the Books on Friday.
See below for more information about:
Sincerely,

Library News
 |
|
Ms. Cole reports that we had over 27,000 books checked out this year! That is amazing and it is true that Stingers are Readers! However, all good things must come to an end, and Ms. Cole needs all library books returned as soon as possible. If you are unsure if your student has library books checked out, your student can log into Destiny Discover through Schoology and check their account. You may also check with Ms. Cole (nhcole@fcps.edu). |
If you can’t find your library books, then you can pay for them via exact change or a check made payable to Stenwood ES. Please send the payment to the library. Thank you for supporting the library and encouraging your students to read.

If you have a child at home who will be five by September 30th, please register now. If you have any neighbors with rising kindergartners, please send this information to them, as well.
This week's spotlight is on Portrait of a Graduate (POG) in action. Students use POG skills and attributes daily. Many of the attributes intertwine with each other. POG in action focuses on students intentionally using the skills and reflecting on:
- How they used the skill
- How the skill helped them
- How they could grow as a __________ next time.
This week and next, many grade levels have activities happening where they have had to use at least one POG attribute or skill:
- 5th/6th Battle of the Books: Goal Directed and Resilient
- 2nd/4th Research Project: Communicator- I use technology to find and share ideas.
- 5th Ancient Civilizations: Communicator and Collaborator
- Kindergarten Bucket List: Communicator
- 3rd Cities: Communicator and Collaborator
