Parents can purchase gift certificates for their child’s teacher when they come to the book fair.
Purchases can be made with cash, check (Payable to Oak View PTA), credit card or eWallet. eWallet works like a preauthorization on your credit card. You set an upper limit to what your child can spend, and then the card is only charged for what your child ACTUALLY spends- up to that limit. For more information on how to set up eWallet: How to set up eWallet for Onsite Book Fairs | Bookworm Central - YouTube

Summer Birthday? Consider a Birthday Book Donation to OV Library
Does your child have a summer birthday? We invite you to donate a book to our school library in your child’s honor during their birthday month! The book you purchase will receive a bookplate inside indicating the book was purchased in honor of your child’s birthday. Please see current wish list and book purchasing guidelines listed in Friday Folder Flyer linked here.
You are also welcome to purchase the book from any local bookstore. Bard’s Alley, Scrawl Books, and One More Page Books would all be willing to order and ship books.
If you wish to purchase something not on this list, please email our school librarian, Mrs. Atkins first (mfatkins@fcps.edu). All books in the library must follow the acquisitions guidelines from FCPS.
This is a completely optional activity and one we thank you for considering. All student birthdays are recognized at Oak View through their name on the morning announcements and a post card and birthday pencil from administration. Oak View does not permit food celebrations due to severe and life-threatening food allergies.

Soaring Eagles - Last Call!
As part of Oak View's year-long focus on furthering partnerships between school and home, we are continuing our student recognition program, Soaring Eagles! This is a student recognition program that is incorporated into our morning announcements on a semi-regular basis. Students can be recognized for any achievements/accomplishments in or out of school! We know many of our eagles are doing awesome things in and outside of school and we want to celebrate their work! Perhaps you have a scout who has sold their first cookie box, a swimmer who completed their first race or a sibling who showed kindness to a younger brother or sister! We know we have students helping in big and small ways and we want to recognize them. If you have a success to share, please complete this Google form! Entries will be aired on morning announcements ahead of the last day of school!

Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Starting in late May, caregivers will receive reports for assessments their students completed this spring. Not sure what assessments your student took this year? A list of tests by grade level is available. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE, by mail, or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Some families will also receive a Virginia’s Visualization and Analytics Solution (VVAAS) Student Assessment Summary report with historical Standards of Learning (SOL) test results from 2015-2022.
Go online or contact your student's school for additional information about student assessments.
How to Support Your Child’s Success
If you do not already have a SIS ParentVUE account, sign up now to monitor and support your child’s academic success! Through ParentVUE, you are able to view your student’s attendance, grades, and assignments at any time. You can also access special reports for your student like progress reports and assessment score reports.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Fairfax County Public Library - LEAP
FCPS is partnering with Fairfax County Public Libraries to provide Library Equity Access Passes (LEAP) to any FCPS student.
WHAT IS LEAP?
All students (PreK-12) in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) have LEAP accounts at FCPL. These public library virtual accounts allow students to check out up to three items at a time for six weeks each (no renewals).
WHY IS LEAP AWESOME?
- A student only needs their name, not a physical library card, to check out materials.
- LEAP accounts never charge fines or fees.
- A student can have a LEAP account as well as a standard library account (application online and in library branches). Standard accounts allow users to place holds on materials and access FCPL digital resources such as eBooks and databases.
Oak View students will have the chance to sign up for LEAP at the Family Book Fair Night on Friday, June 2. Read more about it here.

VDOE Learning Grants - Available to Families
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is now accepting applications from parents for tutoring microgrants for their children through the K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants program.
The program was created to help Virginia families address the impact of the pandemic on student learning. It provides $1,500 grants to parents of school-age children for tutoring in specific subjects. Children from homes with family incomes at 300% or less of the federal poverty level may qualify for $3,000 grants.
Available services include in-person, online, and hybrid tutoring provided one-on-one or in small group or large group settings. The first step in the process is to visit VDOE’s K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants page and create an application account.
