College and Career Center Updates

Summer enrichment programs are a great way for students to explore their interests.  See highlights of a few programs.   Students can find an updated list of programs by logging into Naviance Student>Colleges> Research Colleges>Enrichment Programs.

  • FCPS Student Pilot Program with Coursera - The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is excited to announce the launch of FCPS Student Pilot Program with Coursera!  The new program will allow up to 1,000 FCPS High School students to access the full contents of the Coursera Career Academy.  The pilot program has a limited number of licenses available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Program highlights include:
    • Explore popular digital jobs and career paths, from marketing to data science
    • Learn from experts at leading companies, including Google, Microsoft, and IBM
    • Earn a valuable career micro-credential
    • Access to over 27 professional certificates
    • Interested students must complete the Coursera Student Interest Form.  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqT8IJHbgqPof4aHkLGk-bG9xn7BG1wzHWdu2RhHVsvE_dTw/viewform.  Once the student completes the interest form, FCPS will contact the parental/guardian for consent. Coursera student accounts will then be created. Additional login details will be provided to students after account creation.   Questions? Contact Scott Simmons at sfsimmons@fcps.edu
  • FCPS Talent Ready IT Summer Internships
    • Rising juniors and seniors are being recruited to assist Technology Support Specialists (TSSpec) with technology projects in preparation for the 2023-2024 school year! This is a 5-week paid opportunity from June 26, 2023 – August 4, 2023.
    • The internship program is for the summer only and is not to be confused with the yearlong FCPS IT internship program.  Students interested in learning more should review the FCPS Talent Ready Summer Internships flyer and apply before the deadline on Tuesday, May 30, 2023!
  • George Mason Institute for Excellence (HS)

Students will also engage in research, college success seminars, and career readiness programming.
    • Deadline: Students interested must review the eligibility requirements, program dates included on the program flyer. Apply by Friday, June 9, 2023.
