Dear Bailey’s ES Families,
It appears time is truly flying by. It’s hard to believe that in three weeks this school year will come to an end. Students have been writing great stories, and applying their math learning throughout the week. At the end of the week, everyone had a wonderful time for Field Day. Thank you to all the parent volunteers. Your help made Field Day run really well. We also had a few parents who came to visit/observe as their children participated in the Field Day games. We look forward to having the visitors/observers lead some of the games next year.
Over the next few weeks, we have quite a few activities planned in each grade level. Please make sure you read the communications from your child’s teacher so you don’t miss any important events.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school. We hope you have a wonderful 3 day weekend!

Jillian Bell, Assistant Principal

Parent/Caregiver Lunch Visitation Schedule
Parents/Caregivers are invited to join their student(s) for lunch at school on an assigned day. This is a great opportunity for parents/caregivers to come in for lunch with their child.
We encourage parents/caregivers to eat the same lunch as their child either packed or school lunch. We kindly ask that you do not bring fast food/outside lunch or candy. Also, parents please be advised that the bathrooms directly outside of the cafeteria are for student use only.
On the day of your child’s lunch, please arrive 5 minutes early so you can sign-in at the office and they will direct you to the cafeteria. Additionally, when you leave the school, please remember to check out in the office. If you choose to buy lunch from the cafeteria, adult pricing is $4.50 and may be paid in cash. Click here for more information on purchasing lunch.
We ask that you please limit visitors to 1 caregiver, and no strollers please. We also ask that family members do not follow their child's class back to the classroom or outside for recess.
Please see below for the scheduled lunches by teacher

Update Your Emergency Care Information Through weCare@school
Fairfax County Public Schools provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system, to parents/caregivers who have registered for their own parent account. weCare helps manage emergency medical information by allowing parents to enter and update their children’s medical data online at their convenience. That contact information automatically enrolls parents/caregivers to receive eNotify communications from the district and their child’s school. eNotify is the communications tool for FCPS emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closing and delay, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent via email, text, and occasionally phone.

A Message from our School Counselors
Ms. Crummett and Ms. Wilkins have been talking with students about the feelings they are having about the end of the school year, summer break, and thinking ahead to next school year. Students have been sharing that they have a variety of feelings including feeling sad about missing their teachers and classmates, happy that summer break is coming and they will get to spend more time with their friends and family, proud of themselves for everything they have learned this year, and worried about what next school year will be like. These feelings have been affirmed that they are normal and natural when there will be a change. The following strategies have been practiced and shared with students that they can use when they are having big feelings about the end of the school year and the start of next school year:
- taking deep breaths
- coloring or drawing
- listening to music
- thinking about a happy place or something they like to do with friends or family
- using affirmations or self-talk to remind themselves of the strengths they have
- talking with an adult.
As a parent, you might also be having a lot of different feelings about the end of the school year. Talking with your child about how you are feeling as well as modeling strategies that you use to help when you are having strong or big feelings can be a learning and bonding experience with your child.
