Dear Poplar Tree Families,

Thank you to everyone who helped and attended our Block Party last Friday! Everyone had a fabulous time! Also, thank you to all who supported and purchased items from the silent auction. It was a HUGE success!

This week we had a wonderful choral concert at Rocky Run. All of our choral students and the directors did an amazing job and put on a great concert! We look forward to our band and strings concerts next week!

The Little Free Library is running low on books! If you have any books that you're looking to clear out of your house that are appropriate for elementary aged students, please feel free to add them to the Little Free Library. We appreciate your help in keeping it stocked for the community to enjoy! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Sniffin at smsniffin@fcps.edu.

📸 Order Your Yearbook 📸

Order your yearbook

It's the last week to order a yearbook before the distribution day on Friday, June 2. The yearbooks are here and they are simply adorable. Cherish the memories your student has made this year and guarantee their copy because once they're gone, they're gone! Duplicate orders cannot be refunded this year; if you're not sure if you've already ordered, email Mrs. Riddile. Online orders will still be accepted after the distribution day but copies cannot be guaranteed. Order your yearbook HERE and click Find My School to purchase.

🗓️ Library books due by June 9 🗓️

library books due

Don't wait until the last minute to return your books to the Poplar Tree Library! All books are due back by Friday, June 9. Books not returned by this date will incur a lost book fee. Lists of books that are checked out to students will be sent starting Friday, June 2. If there is an error within the list, please contact Mrs. Riddile. Replacements for lost books are accepted in hard-cover format; please have students hand deliver any lost book replacements to the library in person. Replacements are preferred over fee payment but fees may be paid via MySchoolBucks.

Band and Strings Registration for 2023-2024 is OPEN!

Band and Strings

Ms. Johnson and Mr. Salzberg invite all rising 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students to join or continue band or strings for the 2023-2024 school year! Rising 4th grade students may choose to play a stringed instrument while rising 5th and 6th grade students have the option of either band or strings.

Both band and strings meet once a week for instrument specific classes to learn instrument fundamentals, music note and rhythm reading, and prepare selections for concerts. 6th grade students have the opportunity to perform in at least 2 evening concerts per year while 4th and 5th grade students have at least one opportunity to perform in an evening concert. Both groups of students have can perform a solo in the spring solo and ensemble festival.

All 5th and 6th grade band students also get to participate as a performing member in the Fire and Ice Pep Band in May/June each year to perform fun pep tunes! There may be a field trip next school year for band students to visit a professional band concert or a local high school marching band competition.

Current 5th grade band students do not need to register unless they would like to switch instruments. If you are in 5th grade and would like to join band next year-beginning 6th graders ARE welcome! Ms. Johnson will meet with all rising beginning band students at the beginning of June to try ALL of the band instruments and help you find the best fit.

Thank you for supporting the PTES online auction this year!

We are excited to share that we raised over $9,500 to support PTES!

If you were not able to participate or did not win an item but would like to make a donation, you can make a donation here!

Donations will help us meet our goal of $10,000! These funds help us support activities like author visits, assemblies, school music and art programs, and technology resources.

Many thanks to our amazing auction volunteers, room parents, families and teachers and staff that helped make this such a successful fundraiser.

We hope you enjoyed the block party and a huge thank you to the volunteers who made this such a fun celebration for our community! If you are interested in bringing this event back next year, sign-up to join our planning committee here!
