Thursday Folder

    Spring Concert

    Dear GBW Families!

We want to take a moment to wish all our families a very happy and relaxing Memorial Day! All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 29, for the Memorial Day holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 30.

As we approach the end of the school year, there are many school and class events that students will be participating in. Please take a moment to discuss appropriate and respectful school behavior with your child; we want to make sure we end the school year on a strong note.

We also want to take a moment to thank our music department for their hard work this year and the wonderful concert they put on this week! We have a long standing history of celebrating our student talents through music concerts, and our Spring Music Concert this week was another great performance!  Our band, strings, and chorus students performed a concert at Rocky Run Middle School, and our students did a fantastic job of showcasing their amazing musical talents as well as demonstrating their love of music!  We are so grateful to our amazing music teachers who helped to prepare our young musicians for this concert while also inspiring the next generation of professional musical performers.

    Happy Memorial Day!

    Mr. Blount and Mr. Cook

    Savage Panda

Savage Panda Students Fight for a Better Life

Back in early February, the Savage Panda after school program, made up of 23 students and more than a dozen high school volunteers, started to create a fun video with an important message that everyone would enjoy.

During those recording sessions, students had many challenges to overcome. Physical skills such jumping rope and dodging punching bags had to be practiced over and over to be successful. Additionally, the kids had to come up with appropriate kid problems that would convey the right message and decide how to show those problems on the screen.

After all these months of hard work, the results are fantastic. They stepped up to all the challenges and created a great video. Their video “The Contenders” is now available for everyone to enjoy.  The Contenders covers several themes such as hard work and a desire to make things better. The story shows how the students learn to box to deal with their problems and improve their lives.

We hope you enjoy the video as much as we did while making it.
