School Medication End-of-Year Pick-up

All medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school room.  If you have any questions, please contact our health room aide, Joyce Revollo at 703-322-8510 or our public health nurse at 571-722-7275.

Rising 9th Grade Summer Program

Centreville High School is excited to offer our wildCat Connections orientation program to rising 9th grade students this summer.  This is an optional program designed and taught by Centreville High School staff members and student leaders to provide students with an opportunity to explore the building, meet classmates, and participate in interactive team building activities to help with a successful transition to high school.

The program will be held at Centreville High School on July 26 and August 3.  The time of the program will be 9:00 AM - 2:45 PM each day.  Students can choose one day to attend based on your availability.  We will have lunch available in the cafeteria, or students may bring their lunch.

Students should sign up for either July 26 or August 3 as the programming is the same for both dates.

Registration:

  • Register by June 16th to allow for proper planning

Transportation:

  • We are planning for bus transportation to be available from local elementary pick-up sites, and we will provide more bus details at a later date.

We look forward to meeting your child this summer.  We are confident that your student’s experience in the wildCat Connections program will help lead to a positive and successful start to the freshman school year.

There will also be a 9th grade orientation during the week of August 14th where students will follow their class schedule and meet their teachers.  More details about this event will be provided at a later date.

If you have any questions regarding the wildCat Connections program, please contact assistant principal, Sarah Lutes, stlutes@fcps.edu

**In addition to the Wildcat Connections program, we will also be hosting a freshman and new student orientation on the morning of August 18th.  Students will visit with their teachers on that day.  More information to come soon.

We will also host our Wildcat Welcome Open House event on the afternoon of August 16th

Remind Teens to Practice Safe Driving

It’s a very exciting time of year for many teens: longer days, nicer weather, and end of year/graduation activities.

Please remind teen drivers of the responsibilities that come with driving. According to this video from the Fairfax County Police Department, there were 622 crashes involving teen drivers last year in Fairfax County. Common mistakes among those drivers include failure to maintain proper control (distracted driver/texting and/or speeding), not having the right of way, and following too close (tailgating).

Consider watching this video with your child as a way of showing the real consequences of unsafe driving. FCPD shared footage of a recent incident where speeding led to a serious, but non-fatal, accident. In a news release, FCPD stated, “Parents and guardians should consider using this video as an opportunity to have a conversation with their teen drivers about how their driving behavior can affect the lives of others.”

Cappies Nomination

Exciting News - We received a Cappies nomination for our production of Willy Wonka.  Madelyn Regan is nominated in vocalist in a male role (Charlie Bucket) for our production of Willy Wonka, and is nominated alongside three other performers.  This is a huge honor for our local theatre programs in Northern Viriginia and DC especially as CVHS has not participated in this program for many years.  This program includes theatre departments across the region not just FCPS.

The final winners will be announced at the Cappies Gala (like the Tony Awards) on June 12 at the Kennedy Center.
