Class of 2023 Newsletter - May 25

Annandale Seniors and Families,

Tomorrow marks the last day of school for seniors! Immediately following the R1 exam tomorrow, seniors will be released to attend the Senior Picnic at Ossian Park to enjoy a light breakfast, and sign yearbooks. The event will end at 11:30am. Seniors will receive a ticket to the event in their R1 class and should turn in their laptop in the Main Gym Lobby before leaving the building.

In addition, we are only eleven (11) days away from graduation. Our graduation ceremony is on Monday, June 5 at 9:00am at Annandale High School on our stadium field. Students should arrive by 7:30am. All ticketed guests must arrive by 8:20am and be in their seats by 8:55am. The ceremony will begin at 9:00am.

This year’s graduation speaker is Jewad Abdulhadi, Coach and Office Assistant at Annandale High School.

We have created this Graduation 2023 Tutorial video for both seniors and parents that includes information about tickets, parking, expectations and dress code, photos, and how to watch the ceremony online. In addition, below we have included tasks that need to be completed as soon as possible, important dates with descriptions of each event, additional opportunities related to the end of the year activities and a senior calendar.

Additionally, we will post this information on the “Senior Page” on the AHS Student Portal and the school website for parents to access.

If you have any questions, please contact our senior class sponsors, Mr. Jonathan Carbutt and Ms. Chrystal Wood, or our senior class administrator, Ms. Kara Franklin-Taylor.

Sincerely,

Shawn DeRose, Principal

Complete Mandatory Senior Survey: Each year, every senior is required to complete the Senior Survey. This is how Student Services celebrates the decisions of our graduates and ensures we have information on where to send final transcripts. If you were absent from your senior English class on May 1 or 2 to fill out your Senior Survey, please set up an appointment to meet with your counselor or Mr. Yeagley. Note: Seniors who have not completed the survey will be unable to pick up their cap and gown for graduation. If you have questions or concerns, please email Brian Yeagley, College and Career Specialist.

Complete Mandatory Graduation Questionnaire: All seniors are required to complete the Graduation Questionnaire by May 26. This information will be used to aid our planning to make your graduation goes as smoothly as possible.
