Principal's Message

525

Hello Shrevewood Families,

It is almost the end of May and there are only fourteen school days left in this school year. It is hard to believe that the year is almost over. We look forward to seeing families at the strings concert next Thursday evening.

A reminder to families, all library books are due June 2nd. If your child has medication in the School Health Room, a parent must come to Shrevewood by Friday, June 16 at 2:00pm to pick up the medication.

All FCPS schools and offices are closed on Monday for the Memorial Day Holiday. We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe long weekend! See you Tuesday!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Katie Vandawalker, Assistant Principal

Health Room End-of-Year Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the  summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Strings Concert - June 1st

The Spring Strings Concert will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. in the Shrevewood gym.  Students should arrive at 6:30 P.M.  They should wear long black pants or skirts, black shoes and socks, and white shirts.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Reminder about Cell Phone Use

In elementary school, kindergarten-sixth grade students' phones must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. Watches that serve a dual purpose (e.g., smart watch) may be worn; however, phone features (e.g., texting, Internet, calls, etc.) are to be off during the school day. Students are prohibited from using phones, smart watches, tablets, and other mobile devices in restrooms, the cafeteria, and at recess unless there is a true emergency.  The full SR&R can be accessed online at: https://www.fcps.edu/srr
