Cafeteria Renovation - Menu Changes

Demolition of our cafeteria kitchen is scheduled to begin next week, which means there will be changes to the both the menu and service. Traditional food service in the kitchen will end and the salad bar will be removed. Beginning Tuesday, 5/30, the food service line will be relocated within the cafeteria alongside the tiled mural, and our dining table arrangement will be adjusted to accommodate the move.

For the final weeks of school, the Food and Nutrition Services team will be working off-site to prepare meal choices, therefore only cold options will be available.

Unlike our post-Covid pre-bagged lunches, there will be a few options available, and buyers will still select one entree serving, two vegetables, one fruit, and a beverage. The only a la carte items will be milk and water. There will not be an option to buy any extras of entree/fruit/vegetables. Students will be strictly limited to one trip through the line, and we ask that all students wishing to buy proceed to the line with their class when they arrive.

Library Books are Due by June 2nd

books

It has been an amazing year in the WFES library! We proudly checked out over 35,000 books to our students and staff members. We are excited for our move to the brand new library in the new addition to the building next school year. So we may complete an inventory of the all the library materials and prepare for the move, all library books are due back no later than Friday, June 2. All families will receive an email with a list of their student’s checkouts the week of May 29. Please use this list to locate all missing books and return them to the library as soon as possible. Books that cannot be located can be paid for or replaced with a new copy. Thank you for your continued support of our library!

WFES Buddy Program

Would you like to help welcome new families to Wakefield Forest Elementary School by being part of the Buddy Program for SY2023-2024?

What does it mean to be a Buddy Family? This summer, the PTA will match you (current WFES families) up with a new student and their family to help answer any questions they may have before starting school. If you can, you will meet in person before school starts to give the new student an opportunity to meet a new friend and have a familiar face to help them navigate the ins and outs of Wakefield Forest Elementary. You'll also be invited to help welcome new families at New Student Orientation in late August (exact details tbd). The buddy program is an easy way to help ensure our new families feel connected and welcomed to WFES.

If you are interested in becoming a Buddy Family, please send an email to Rebecca Gudicello at rebeccagudicello@gmail.com with the name of your student and their grade level for the 2023/2024 school year. Please sign up by July 1, 2023. We hope that you will join us for one of the most rewarding programs at WFES!!
