Atoms Athletics

The final week of the regular season for all spring teams came to a close this week! We finished with our final two senior nights and our fall athletes visited Holmes Middle School to share their experiences and why rising 9th graders should choose to play a sport at Annandale.

Boys and girls tennis wrapped up their season in the Occoquan Region Tennis Tournament with boys falling to Lake Braddock and girls coming up short in their home match vs West Potomac.  Boys and girls lacrosse completed their seasons in the region tournament with boys playing hard against West Springfield and girls hard fought effort wasn't enough in their home game vs Fairfax. Baseball played an 11 inning thriller vs Edison on senior night and Autism Awareness Night before losing 3-2 but bounced back in a big way with a first round National District Tournament upset over Justice on Thursday! Softball finished their week off with a first round district tournament win over TJ to move on to the semifinals vs Hayfield. Boys soccer split their two games this week and go into the district tournament as the #5 seed on Monday. Girls soccer secured the #2 seed with wins over Mt. Vernon and Edison. Track competed in the National District track meet this week with personal records being set and Miles Lanham and Noah Williams who backed up their winter track championships with more medals for the outdoor season!

Exciting things happening around Atoms Athletics so don't miss out on the action!!

Directors Cut

Check out what's happening from our performing arts department!

Orchestra Director - Anne Ray

May 18 - Orchestra is excited to welcome Grammy nominated artist, Christylez Bacon, to our classes next week to kick off his residency with us! We are lucky enough to be one of the seven schools in Virginia to be awarded the 2023 Wolf Trap Educator Grant, and are using these funds to explore improvisation, blending styles and cultures of music, and creating beats with Christylez. This residency ends with a day of performing our original work and exploring arts careers at Wolf Trap. Catch our performance with Christylez at Annandale High School on May 18 at 7:00pm in the auditorium!

Choral Director - Pat Vaughn

May 26 and May 27 - Broadway Desserts: Broadway Desserts will feature all five of the AHS Choirs performing songs from the stage and is a Broadway Review of sorts. Both group and individual acts will be featured from auditions held earlier in the semester. The students prepare the music, pick their costumes and coordinate their choreography for a fantastic evening of entertainment. Please join us on either Friday, May 26 or Saturday, May 27 at 7:00pm in Watson Auditorium! Tickets will go on sale April 24.

Dance Team Fundraiser

The dance team needs your support! Grab a tote bag (or just contribute a donation) by following this link: Fundraising Link

The tote bag was designed by current sophomore dancer (and artist) Madison Mueller and it includes our dance team motto, "Every move is a moment!"

After competing for the first time this past season, Annandale Dance Team has even bigger ambitions this year .. Including going to dance camp for the first time this summer, along with more local competitions. Your contributions will go towards dance camp and competition fees, along with uniforms and dance gear. It also ensures that costs to dancers remain at a minimum.

We are going into our 3rd year as a team, so we are still young - which means we need all of the fundraising support we can get. Thank you for your support! GO ATOMS!
