Annandale Student Services

Message from the Director

Dear Atom Nation,

Each year, we encourage current juniors to apply for the prestigious summer enrichment programs of Virginia Boys State and Virginia Girls State

Virginia Boys State is a leadership action program, designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of government and to impress upon the citizens the fact that our government is just what we make it. Along the way they will have the opportunity to learn the political process.

Similarly, Virginia Girls State is a leadership program to teach rising high school seniors the responsibilities of citizenship in a democratic society. Through this program, the American Legion Auxiliary hopes to make our young citizens realize that they are an essential part of their government and are responsible for its character and success.

We are proud to announce two of our juniors will be representing Annandale at these long-standing summer enrichment programs. Christina Abouzeki was selected to attend Virginia Girls State at Longwood University. Semir Ali was selected to attend Virginia Boys State at Radford University. These students were selected based on their character, achievements and interest in government, laws and procedures of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Congratulations Semir and Christina!

Decision Day

Message from the Director

Dear Atom Nation,

Last week we had the opportunity to highlight the next chapter in the lives of our seniors with our Senior Decision Day celebration! Students decorated graduation caps with their plans for next year. Whether attending a four-year university, enrolling at NOVA, joining the military, or taking a gap year, our students were excited to share their post high school plans! Thank you to all our counselors for organizing such a wonderful event!

Although we are excited to celebrate the future for our seniors, we also have to remember to stay in the present. Seniors have two more weeks of classes, including their finals. I encourage all our seniors to remain focused on working hard the next two weeks and finishing the school year strong!
